Unlucky, injury wise. Woefully undercooked, squad wise.

This season......your thoughts. on 00:30 - Mar 25 with 2174 views | nix | I think injuries killed us. No Chair early doors when we really could've done with his experience while blending in a number of new players. Huge chunks without Morrison, Cook, JCS. Losing both DMs at the same time. Colback out most of the season. No Dembele at the same time as Chair out. Frey out for a while. Celar out just as he was coming good. Kolli out, Lloyd also out after struggling with a groin strain. Our back up for Paal in January turns out to have an injury. I know it's normal to get injuries but when your back up also gets injured you're going to struggle. Positives: we showed fight when things were starting to look hopeless; we're looking to the future and blooding young players like Morgan and Kolli is exciting. Varane looks like an excellent player. We kept Marti. Negatives: We very nearly left ourselves too much to do; the players we spent money on, Madsen and Celar have struggled to adapt to the Championship. If we can have a more balanced squad next season, have more luck with injuries and start like a train rather than an old three wheeler next season could be interestiing.

A little harsh, we have earnt our points especially through our little purple patch. Injuries at times killed our momentum and exposed our squad. Next season is a worry. On the positive side Marti has a full Championship season under his belt but who knows which players he will have to work with and how long they will stay fit!
This season......your thoughts. on 06:09 - Mar 25 with 1953 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | Poorly planned signings, boring football, lack of squad depth and huge issues on the horizon regarding summer transfers. Shyte, in other words.

This season......your thoughts. on 07:27 - Mar 25 with 1851 views | gazza1 | Terribly unlucky with so many injuries, even now we are missing good players due to injuries.....it has killed us. Very disappointed because with the players & the Management Team we have at the Club we should be in the top 10 at least.

This season......your thoughts. on 08:29 - Mar 25 with 1733 views | kingsburyR | Not sure our purple patch can make up for the horrendous start to the season. With our current run of form the equates to over half the season where we were utter tripe! Currently going through the annual "will I bother with my season ticket next season"

This season......your thoughts. on 09:17 - Mar 25 with 1633 views | BrianMcCarthy | Very disappointing, I'm sorry to say. A summer of shocking recruitment and a farcical medical performance led to a dreadful autumn. Cifuentes also must regret his tactical set-up given the players he had at his disposal. A superb recovery, a superb performance by management and players had us three points and three places from the play-offs, but when a very quiet transfer window closed we still had most of the structural problems we had in August, prompting the thought that we'd pressed up hard against the FFP ceiling back last Summer. Predictably, the injuries have continued. Predictably the small and unbalanced squad has failed to cope. Predictably, some of the drive and belief has ebbed from the squad. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon when I say that I'm worried about Cifuentes leaving. I've been worried since the January transfer window closed. He doesn't have a record of staying long at clubs, and each passing transfer window here leaves him no closer to a settled and competitive squad. Cifuentes is not perfect. No manager is. But he's the best manager we've had in a long time. Last Summer we had a good manager, we had momentum and we had FFP room. In short, we had a generational window. Hard to believe right now that we didn't blow it. As for Nourry's antics off the field, I find them insulting, I feel they display poor leadership, and I worry about his ethics and judgement. A very disappointing season.

This season......your thoughts. on 09:27 - Mar 25 with 1585 views | derbyhoop | Underwhelming. Too many new faces last Summer, some of whom have settled well, others disappointing. 2 biggest outlays have been the most disappointing. Very much the same as every other club in the Championship without parachute payments. Injuries to so many key players, at key times, have disrupted progress. Tying Field, JCS, Chair, Kolli, Lloyd, Morgan to new contracts a definite plus. The concerns about 4 defenders, + 2 loans, being out of contract is a worry. Overall, not quite as good as we'd hoped after the end of last season. And, the future. Depends on departures and incoming. But, I'd hope for further improvement. Top ten finish?

This season......your thoughts. on 09:46 - Mar 25 with 1525 views | stevec | Feels like a missed opportunity as this is a particularly weak Division. Fair to say the amount of injuries have decimated us, but even with a fully fit squad the front four wouldn’t scare any opposition. That’s been our major problem for years and we never get anywhere near solving it. Our pre season preparation has stank for some time, it’s no wonder we start bad and the injuries pile up. I like Marti and think he gets the best out of most of the players, but he’s set on a particular style of play that requires far better players than we, or indeed this league, possess. There’s a gap between idealism and realism that the manager needs to come to terms with.

Ha, same for me! I thought a top half finish would be a decent achievement but having had that great run till around the end of January when it looked like we could push on, key injuries have somewhat done for us. Of course our dreadful start didn't help much (and I still think the manager's desire to play more expansively doesn't fit with our squad or the rigours of the Championship). And yes some concern about where we end up next season, very much depending on which players we keep and how well we recruit.

This season......your thoughts. on 10:23 - Mar 25 with 1339 views | thehat | Don't even want to think about giving a summery yet. Maybe it's just me but I am still looking nervously over my shoulder and this team can still go on a big losing run and be dragged into the mire. Once we reach 50/52 points then I can think about it.

This season......your thoughts. on 10:44 - Mar 25 with 1267 views | BAWHoops | Since January we haven't really been in any sort of relegation trouble and if we pick up the the likely 3 wins from the last 8 we will end up roughly where we all thought (12th - 16th). What's been a shame is that 2 of the three players we spent good money on have been desperately underwhelming and I suppose that leads in to Clive's point that next season is a worry because with Colback, Dunne, Cook, Andersen, Paal likely leaving you are ripping out a hell of a lot of experience and will be back relying on Celar and Madsen to step up, which they haven't looked like doing. Morgan will likely not be as brilliant as he was and Lloyd, whilst game, doesn't look up to scratch. We are going to have to re build the defence using Nourry's analytics which haven't exactly proved a resounding success so far

This season......your thoughts. on 11:14 - Mar 25 with 1175 views | Juzzie | Disappointed as we had such a good end to last season I thought it would carry over. Even though every club has to have aspirations of success, otherwise what's the point, I'm also realistic with our situation and what we can achieve in this day & age of FFP constraints etc. I never envisioned we'd be play-off material (but yes, would have been nice) but I was hoping for top 10 at least and see where we can go from there. I do think injuries played a big part. Our purple patch happened when we had injured players coming back plus being able to reorganise without the likes of Chair. Then we got injuries mounting up again and our form dropped again. All signings are a gamble, unless you're Harry Redknapp (all allegedly, of course) I don't think clubs go out to make bad signings, especially a club like ours with such tight finances. I'm no Marti fanboy but the "he has to go" type of fans really do have to understand that it's not always the manager, sometimes yes, but not always.... see Watford and on a bigger stage, see Gareth Southgate. The last two England games could have had Southgate in charge such were the line-up's and how the games panned out and when Lee Carsley did play all the players the fans were crying for against Greece, we lost. At home. Embarrassingly. (edit: in a way I'm glad he did that as it shows all the armchair managers that maybe they don't know as much as they think they do) So, as with last season, lets just see this season out and 'go again'.
