These WEF puppets have severely miscalculated—they’ve picked on the wrong people to push around. The French won’t stand for it, and what’s coming isn’t just a wave of resistance; it’s a tsunami. When it hits, they’ll be drowning in the fallout.

I tend to agree. I have no political leaning as such anymore but is it not another western attempt to quash the rise of the right ? In the UK they implode and do it themselves as seen recently but maybe this is another way with Le Penn of using Tommy Robinson like tactics to keep the support in its place. And try and criminalise people for having what is considered an extreme opinion ?

This may turn out to be a bit of a double-edged sword. Looking at X/Twitter the Right are really going to town on this, alleging the subversion of democracy via "lawfare". I'm not a fan of Madam Le Pen's position on Russia and Ukraine, but there is something in the argument that other parties across the EU have blurred the line between legitimate European Parliament expenditure and illegitimate Party spending, and it may be that the bar on her standing in the Presidential election will do more harm than good.

Surely the question here is did she do it?

If she did, has the law been applied correctly?

This is the question.

Know nothing about French law but isn’t this the sort of thing that should be decided by jury?

A couple of VERY SIMPLE FACTS...

Marine le Pen has often pushed the notion that her party is one of law and order.

Marine and her party ENDORSED the law that set out to HARSHLY PUNISH those that embezzle funds.

Marine was FOUND GUILTY OF EMBEZZLEMENT and has been puished accordingly.

Ergo the consequence of her action has met its legal remedy and is therefore NOT POLITICAL as she claims. FAFO.

On the face of it that seems the obvious question, but I think the controversy will centre on whether others very often do teh same thing, and whether the rules have been applied selectively.

Are you serious? Just as Le Pen was leading the polls for 2027 in France, the globalists pulled the exact same stunt on the frontrunner in Romania.

It seems JD Vance was spot on when he said democracy in the EU is dead.

There's no genetic make up. Hitler wasn't born a NAZi he became one later. That has to be the dullest statement for a long time.

Nope, it is not any sort of attempt whatsoever. She broke the law so she suffers the consequences.

That is exactly what Rule Of Law entails.....

If people don't like it, tough tts

She didn't even really dispute the charges.

I don't know if the sentence is appropriate or whether that should prevent her running for office but she's guilty as hell.

t looks like Le Pen will be the next French PM.

Her judgment has been deferred on appeal until next summer. The 3 judges who jailed her have had to go into hiding with protection.

20 thousand new members have just joined her party.

I'm sorry but the ergo is a bit subjective. What is being alleged is that she has been convicted purely for political reasons and hasn't done anything wrong OR at the very least she hasn't done anything a lot of others are doing and being allowed to get away with.

If she really is guilty and bang to rights then fair enough. The real problem here is the perception her supporters are pushing and if enough people believe that she is the victim of a political witch hunt, there could be trouble ahead.

That said, she wouldn't be the first politician hoisted by their own petard.

He wasn’t born anything he became what today is incorrectly a term used for fascism or the far right. You should read Mein Kampf where the first time the word was used politically followed by Joseph Goebells who also reintroduced the term in his writing. Before then it was a word used to describe down and outs. Yes the Germans and the vast majority of them followed national socialism, much the same as today with these rag wearing Palestinian flag wavers every weekend around the country. The people who do that have about as much knowledge of Palestine as the National Socialists did of their own manifesto.

I think the sooner people free up their thoughts on a political viewpoint they will free their minds of all of this nonsense and concentrate on putting the bins out on the right day. Pretty much the same job they undertake every weekend from middle class homes in many shires.

Until I saw these groups on the streets I never really realised how thick and stupid people can be. Plough your own furrow, that way you get more people to fight and you can choose who and when.

These thicko’s can’t even do their homework on Palestinian people and Hamas.

She has disputed the charges though, she has also disputed the punishment calling it a politucal decision.

We need a lawyer cognizant of French law.

I have read Law but I'm not a lawyer and I'm certainly not initiated in French law. She was convicted under Article 432-15 of the Penal Code apparently - https://www.equalrightstrust.org/ertdocumentbank/french_penal_code_33.pdf

ARTICLE 432-15
(Ordinance no. 2000-916 of 19 September 2000 Article 3 Official Journal of 22 September 2000 in force 1 January
2002)
The destruction, misappropriation or purloining of a document or security, of private or public funds, papers,
documents or securities representing such funds, or of any other object entrusted to him, committed by person holding
public authority or discharging a public service mission, a public accountant, a public depositary or any of his
subordinates, is punished by ten years' imprisonment and a fine of €150,000.
Attempt to commit the misdemeanour referred to under the previous paragraph is subject to the same penalties.

Not sure how that allows for much interpretation (political or otherwise) tbh - and it's absolutely disgusting that the judge in question is getting death threats

As for Orban - "Je suis Marine" Non, tu es vraiment un t.wat !!!!

I would have used the more formal " vous"
However , I digress
Being a more simple kinda guy I'd introduced a more prosaic critique
This female is a bitch, one convicted by a French court
Like Trump , she accepts no guilt and regrets " time"
These people are tyrants
Le Pen was brought up by a father consumed with hatred which he has passed on to his daughter

I am finding myself ever more detached from life and frankly the dust bowl on the sky isn't as bad a prospect as it seemed

Le Pen having supporters within this site is almost sick as those who support Putin and his aims

The Spectator article for which I posted a link is written by James Tidmarsh, who works for a Paris-based law firm. I think he is right to say that the key issue is the wider context of EU rules rather than the article of French law under which Le Pen was convicted. The arguments are and will be about usual practice concerning what political aids to MEPs in the European Parliament are allowed to do.

Maybe decent people want a Politician to say the truth , that will be a first but in some cases maybe there is a good Leader prepared to speak openly .

The Don seems to be loving the fanfare somehow and thrive on it .

Politicans will rock the boat and face the real World challenges then speak out , nice one .

So some of our House of Lords freeloaders doing nothing get back to the real world .
