Yes, some people will be attracted to success and good football, but that’s only half the story.

We have the third lowest average home attendance this season. That’s abysmal given the size of the city and the lack of clubs near us. Cardiff are 16th out of 24, which if anything, is even worse for a city that size, again with no local competition.

Is it a South Wales thing? Fans seem to be more loyal elsewhere.

The sporting public is definitely quite fickle in South Wales, that's for sure. Happy to go along when things are running smoothly, quick to not bother or go back to being plastic supporters of big clubs when not.

It also probably doesn't help that we've been more boring to watch than the test card for most of the last five or six years.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I have bought a good ticket high up in the West stand in central area for £9. Happy days. I bought a shirt to celebrate as I was expecting £25-30.

You could go to every game for £25-30

I am obliged to work weekends occasionally and travel across the border for long periods. A season ticket is not practical for me. I am not giving up my work for SCFC.

I can't attend every game but it's called supporting the club financially, done it for nearly 60 years so not going to stop now.

I've critised our home crowds for being too passive and got pellets for doing so and that's fair enough
I do think Welsh fans are fickle
Remember the sheer insouciance of 1982/3 which , after a great first Div season saw us get 13000 for Notts County
I've not really come to terms with it
Having spent most of my life in the north west and loads of time in North East I would say they are more passionate
The Toon are at the very heart of Newcastle and Sunderland the same
Sunderland had terrible seasons and fans still turned up

Personally , I won't go to home games as the round trip is too much
When I had my Bikes , it was ok for me
I' have missed every away game this season as family matters are too pressing but I'm hoping the new season will see me reboot though losing Leeds and Burnley gives top less opportunities

Enjoy the summer anyway

We're still both above ground and that's all that matters

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Before you put away your Newcastle and Sunderland tinted glasses.

In 1982/83

Average division one attendances were 20,000
Newcastle managed 24,000 although they were In Division Two and Sunderland managed 17,000. Liverpool could only manage 34,000 and Everton 20,000.

This was an era of falling Gates throughout the football league

Demand for tickets is so high tomorrow they are starting to open the blocks, usually closed off, between home and away supporters.

Don't be surprised to see a couple of the u21s play a more prominent role in this game. If they are not given the opportunity on Friday I'm not sure when they will this season.

If I were Sheehan, and really wanted the manager's job, then I would put my very best team on the pitch tomorrow in order to keep the momentum going. Wouldn't risk any youngsters until I (as AS) get the job offer!

A manager needs to show he can bring the youngsters through. There will be two in the squad tomorrow with quite possibly one starting.

We have that low average largely because of Luke Williams, he bored people to tears so they cried off and stayed away.

It was you that mentioned 1982/83 in your post. I was just explaining gates were low everywhere 40 years ago with dilapidated stadiums , hooliganism and very poor facilities.

I would like to see some of our young stars get their reward, for playing well in their age groups. I guess we'll find out shortly.

Sheehan has to treat the rest of the season, unless he is appointed before then, as a job interview.

I’d like to see them too, but I’d be prioritising points if I was in his shoes.

Bloody hell that's a great response to the lads recent efforts, the only down side today is the weather which doesn't look like letting up its traditional children's school holiday downpours, all the same It'll be great being a nearly full stadium again for sure.

Yes it's good to know that the club has reached out with good value tickets and the public have taken it up.

I'm certain n9 matter how bad the weather is the crowd will get behind the team

Definite positive response from the locals & beyond , we just need to keep the momentum up not only for the rest of this season and hopefully who ever gets the job will continue this into the summer and beyond.
