Swansea City v Hull City : Match day thread ** UPDATED on 20:03 - Apr 18 by Fireboy2 | He has had 2 offers of a coaching job, one with a top 4 PL side, the other with a top 4 la liga side, both salaries far bigger than our tightwad owners will offer. Let that sink in 😉 |
And of course the club knows this. My belief is he will be announces next week. But I can’t help thinking there is a strong case for Hellberg. In the words of Paul Merson, ‘it’s one of them’

Hellberg, no offence shouldn't even been thought of.

I'm sure that Hellberg will want his staff to come along too, which means more money involved. I would think £1M-2M more would have to be spent, which doesn't make sense when they're looking to cut expenses. I've seen it happen several times before, though. A new person in charge who wants to put his stamp on the selection, and then they both get fired. Will be disappointed if Sheehan doesn't get a fair offer.

Swansea City v Hull City : Match day thread ** UPDATED on 20:09 - Apr 18 by ncswan | I think we all would agree that he's a better manager than Martin was. Martin was a primadonna; Sheehan talks about his players, his staff, and doesn't like being the center of attention. Martin blamed others for his team's performances (players, lack of Jan signings); Sheehan has humility. Martin was hard-headed and insisted on 3 in the back when a lot of us said the team needed four; Sheehan has shown us multiple formations, even within the game at hand, and his team looks prepared. Martin was signed by Southampton after a nice end-of-the-season run; Sheehan? Yeah, right, no PL team is going to sign Sheehan, are they? |
Not yet no. Martin had much more managerial experience though I do marvel at how the hell he got another job after here.

Swansea City v Hull City : Match day thread ** UPDATED on 21:54 - Apr 18 with 1237 views | builthjack | The club need to give Sheehan a 2 year contract now. If the Swede is appointed he will want decent money for transfers, will cost a couple of million in compo too. Give Sheehan the job, sign Darling and O’Brien, and wheel and deal. It will cost less and will get better results. No brainer.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

As I stated, Southampton was impressed with Martin's 9-game run at the end of the 2022-2023 season, getting 7 wins and 2 draws as I recall without going back to verify. Anyway, his overall record at MK Dons wasn't all that impressive. He didn't even finish in the top half of League 1 in either season as manager, which spanned from Nov 2019 to Aug 2021 when he signed on at Swans. MK Dons were 21st in Nov 2019 when he took over, and he did keep them up in League One finishing the Covid-shortened season in 19th place. In his 2nd year with MK Dons he led them to 13th place. Swans & Julien Winter hired him Aug 1 because of his "possession-based" football. Sheehan's record is much more impressive with a combined interim record of 9 wins 4 draws 4 losses or 31 points out of 17 games. Experienced (loser) manager or a successful (winner) manager? Sorry, but hands down, and as I stated, Sheehan has proven to be a better manager than Martin, even though with less experience. [Post edited 19 Apr 2:14]

Southampton wanted Martin as they identified his playing style as something that would work with players that were A. More suited to it than the players we had B. Better than the players they would be coming up against almost every game Not because he had a good run at the end of a bad season. They were technically a PL club at the time, but were confirmed relegated. No PL club is going to appoint a manager based on a 10 game run in the Championship and the short period he had between Duff and Williams. As a coach, I can totally buy. Not as a manager.
Swansea City v Hull City : Match day thread ** UPDATED on 13:05 - Apr 19 with 520 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Sheehan has generated clean sheets and defensive discipline. A project of transition starts with this is. The back four picks it self and the keeper was quite a find too. Enough to get Sheehan the job.

A good place to start. If only the previous ownership & management regime hadn’t failed to get Darling’s contract extension over the line. Always one step forward, one step back. Hopefully the new regime can change this but I won’t be holding my breath …
