So I only ever go to the C&S before and after games especially if I bring someone. Next Monday my daughter and her boyfriend ( he is South Welsh) and his dad are coming to HQ for the first time and I promised them a pre lunch special from C&S. obviously it’s being refurbed. Where would anyone recommend that is anywhere as good and friendly?

Any intel on what to expect? Gastropub, more table dining/less drinking space etc?
It didn't sound tooooo drastic.
Outside it's been painted a very deep blue.
"Large portrait of greyhound must be retained" was on the worksheet, which the other half is pleased about as I would inevitably have brought that home if it was going in a skip.

Clive - Any idea why they decided to do the refurb in the football season. I would imagine QPR home games are their biggest revenue days during the year.
The Pocket Watch is also closed for a refurb - Strange business decisions I must say.

And the Easter weekend! Nuts isn't it. Probably left £20-30k laying out there. No, didn't understand it either.

The White Horse reduced its prices on Saturday after the 80p a pint rise from the previous Saturday.Less staff on though so it was harder to get a drink than normal.I heard that the Green was charging £8 a pint, which is ridiculous if true. A lot of people seem to be voting with their feet over the price increases in local pubs now as the Horse was only 1/2 full compared to a couple of months ago.

£4.80 a pint of the black stuff in the Conningham or as Trev calls it the Cunningham.

Next time I'm passing Slane Castle, I'll stop in and ask Henry Conyngham what he thinks of those ragamuffins who don't even know how to spell the family name!

If we drive and depending on time we normally go to either the Princess Victoria or Crown and Sceptre. However in recent weeks we stopped going to the PV because they need more bar staff and getting served is a ball ache. Last couple of games we have used The Queen Adelaide which is fine but it’s plastic glasses.
If we get the tube it’s normally the sports bar in Westfield which is fine too although sometimes it’s also plastic glasses depending on who we are playing. It was plastic glasses for the Leeds game because they are massive you know.

Damn, 80p at the White Horse is about a 20% increase.
Was really cheap when I went to the Green, but I remember it being eye-wateringly expensive under the old management. Maybe they've gone back to old management?
