Forgotten Men Could Play Crucial Part For Saints Next Season on 10:36 - Apr 16 with 1723 views | PatfromPoole | There are a couple of key players who were instrumental in getting us promoted and who we are absolutely going to have to replace:- 1. KWP - one of the best players in the Championship last year 2. David Brooks - we have singularly failed to replace him through the whole of this season. He didn't score a huge amount of goals for us, but he was a class act and was the best player on the pitch by a mile in the play-off semi against West Brom at home. The likes of James Bree and Sam Edozie are fairly solid performers in the Championship, but are not of a sufficiently high quality to make the difference between play-off chasers and league winners. So we need to recruit, and for a change, recruit well.

Forgotten Men Could Play Crucial Part For Saints Next Season on 14:57 - Apr 16 with 1516 views | TimSaint | I would rather have Sam Amo-Ameyaw back, than Edozie. Sam offers that bit more, is quicker, more direct and would score/assist more. Whereas Dozie beats his man, then cuts back or passes it back too often. Trouble is, I think they have an obligation to buy once his loan finishes. I wouldn't mind taking Sam's current manager (Liam Rosenior) either - who did well in the Champ last season (not sure why he was sacked considering where Hull are this season) and has done brilliantly in France this season, with Strasbourg.

Rosenior appears to have ruled himself out. He is another Rustyball merchant though. Rustyball faffery appears to be not what Herr Spors is keen on.

Sam Amo Ameyaw will turn 19 at the end of the season. In the League for Saints his stats are Premier League 3 games, 29 minutes 0 goals 0 assists Championship 3 games 74 minutes 0 goals 0 assists. Sam Edozie has just turned 22 Premier League 19 games 623 minutes, 0 goals o assists Championship 32 games 1,364 minutes 6 games 3 assists. It's hard to decide who is the best option, Amo--Ameyaw may give the perception that he is more direct and will score or assist more, but hasn't got the track record of actually doing so. Edozie might faff around more but he has actually scored and got more assists, so would we prefer potential, or proven for next season.

Would we not say that we replaced David Brooks with Tyler Dibling, 28 games minutes and scored 2 goals and assisted in 1 David Brooks 24 games scored 2 goals and 0 assists Brookes has not played as many minutes for Bournemouth as Dibling for Saints, but he is playing in a Bournemouth team who with 52 goals are high scoring with only 6 teams scoring more, he should in theory be getting more time in attacking areas

I'm staggered that Brooks had zero assists. He was heavily involved in a lot of goals. But then assists stats are prone to misinterpretation.

Brooks 100% provided the assist for Rothwell's 2nd goal at home to Huddersfield last season. It made it 2-2 at the time and we won 5-3.

I thought he set up Edozie’s goal at the end of that game as well. But as the Royals might say, recollections may vary.

I quite liked Edozie when we were in the Championship. I thought he was improving until the injury at Norwich. Regulary beating the fullback and he started to weigh in with some goals and assists. Ideally we'd improve on both of these players by bringing in on loan Summerville from West Ham. He was excellent for Leeds but he's a bit part player for the Hammers.

If Edozie was anywhere near proven, he would never have been allowed to go out on loan. He is even more frustrating than what we see down our wings in the Prem every week this season. Oh and I've seen Sam Amo-Ameyaw score for us in the League Cup away to Cardiff this season (we won 5-3). Hardly surprising that this was omitted from your quoted stats, as you famously exclude Cup goals for certain players, if it suits your rhetoric :-)

Mara will get that assist. Brooks played it in from the right and Mara should have scored but miscontrolled it, fought for it in the scramble, laid it back to Dozie and he side stepped the defender to slot home.

Just seen another assist from Brooks. He provided the pass for A Arm's equalising goal to make it 1-1 away to Birmingham City.

There's no comparison between Brooks & Dibling. David Brooks is proven at Premier lge level. He'd have played a lot more games if it hadn't been for his very serious illness, he's done brilliant to recover from that. Dibling has proved nothing yet apart from the fact that he's got a dubious attitude. He'll have to change his attitude to make a top player. I know which one I'd rather have in my team.

Just watched the highlights from our last gasp 3-2 home win over Watford from last season. Was chatting to a Watford fan and he was convinced Downes hand balled it prior to scoring. I checked and he didn't. ....anyway, I watched Smallbone head us into a 1-0 lead and then Che made it 2-0 after a good run and cross from KWP was deflected and put on a plate for him by none other than DAVID BROOKS. That's 3 assists I've randomly seen from a player we were told had zero assists for us.

Baz is indeed injured. Bit disappointing the club are not following one of their loan players. Also looks like Gaz is having a leaky time over there. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25103367.southampton-assess-fresh-gavin-bazunu
