BH Monday Championship Thread on 17:22 - Apr 21 by jack247 | I’d have been happy with them not picking up points on Hull and Derby. To drop two points to everybody was incredible Not forgetting a great away performance from our boys of course. |
Of course, a display full of energy. And their goal was a bit lucky. Millimetres to the right and it would have come back out off the post.

Can still make play offs but cov and boro would need to lose next week and last game Boro to beat Cov but a 14 goal swing over the 2 games in our favour. We could lose out on goal difference.

One win during the Williams shitfest towards the end and we would be in there.

Apart from the top 3 it shows what a muchness of a muchness this league is, a missed opportunity keeping hold of Williams for so long

Saw a stat that said we have lost 16 points from winning positions. If we had just hung on for 4 of them we’d be in the mix. Tiny margins between an awful season battling relegation and being on the verge of the playoffs.

Well you have beaten us about 10 less than we have beaten you in EFL PL matches Mind you season was a record for you. The 4 points you gained in our matches is the most you have ever taken off us. This is the first time you have managed to take four points of us since 1988. Still not managed a double yet.

20-20 hindsight reveals the opportunity was after MatchDay 30 (vs. Coventry on 1Feb). We lost 0-2, but then beat Bristol @ Bristol 0-1 on 9Feb, but then lost @ home to Shef Wed 0-1 on 12Feb, then @ Stoke 3-1. Grimes was signed by Coventry prior to our game with them but didn't play. As I recall, I think LOB signed on the last day of window, which was 3Feb.

You are missing my point....could Grimes perform the role O Brien does advanced in midfield and aggressive I agree with your data and Williams just put O Brien onto the Grimes role Sheehan has used him far more forwards. If Grimes were still here do you think we would be playing as much on the front foot? I'm not saying our upturn is all down to O Brien if it was just him Williams wouldn't have been sacked as your data shows the results from his first few games. It's hats off to Sheehan who has others have said uses a system to play to the players strengths rather than get players to play to a "rigid system

Since the 1st January 1980 when most of todays supporters would have started following the Clubs our results are as follows Cardiff have beaten us 14 times and drawn 13 times Our wins in the same period (1st January 1980 - 18th January 2025 ) we've beaten them 27 times nearly double so really it should be the Doube ,Doube, Doube

Grimes was the main man for us Since his leaving, the chance has been startling No way is he anywhere near OBrien standard If Coventry go up and he stays there , he will be ruthlessly exposed I think they will sell him on if they do go up

Vetch, I was agreeing with your point, which I believe to have been, in my words, "Grimes may have decided to stay if Williams was let go earlier, and therefore, LOB would not have been signed". I agree with you that LOB is a godsend to Swans but wouldn't have been signed if Grimes had stayed. Our current streak would not have happened with Grimes in charge. Hanging on to Williams, imo, pushed Grimes to leave. If that's the case, then I was pointing out a point in the timeline where Swans could have had Sheehan in charge two or three games prior to the Blackburn game, which was his first game in charge. Grimes left in late Jan. LOB signed last day of Jan window (3Feb). Williams fired after Stoke game (15Feb).

BH Monday Championship Thread on 09:44 - Apr 23 by bennytheblue | That 3-0 might well have stopped you making the playoffs mind? Crazy this league, just a month ago you were looking at a relegation scrap with us (3 point gap) before you beat Derby….just shows how small the gap in quality is really all the way down from the top two. No doubt we will see Leeds and Burnely back next year…..uh oh….maybe not eh? |
that and other various Luke Williams games, but if it makes you feel a bit better then fill your boots

No. Keeping our manager too long cost us a shot at the playoffs. We were playing like that every week at the time. It may just have kept you in the championship though. You are very lucky we played Hull, Plymouth and Derby after he left. We wouldn’t have beaten them and we’d both be going down.

I think you need to check your tables we were 5 points ahead of you withe a far better goal difference before Derby So saying we were in a relegation scrap is stretching it a bit
