Enjoyable game and thought Norn Iron deserved something from the game but the ref and Zee German play acting stifled them. Some great young players on show with a lot of grit about them

Yeah decent game and performance- Germany v dodgy at the back. Bit more composure in front of goal could definitely have yielded a deserved equaliser. Thought Smithy might have done more when he came on, thought he would be like a wasp in the German defence, but apart from the corner not a lot else. Still great occasion for him.

That's because his team mates didn't pass the ball to him, he was ignored in favour of aimless lumped balls into the box. His cutback cross was excellent btw.

Paul Smyth on 08:35 - Oct 14 with 1175 views | numptydumpty | Paul Smyth is one of those types of players that fans cannot help, but like. Mainly, because he is a player that will always give the maximum, he possibly can, although, would say his levels of skill and talent are often under estimated. And for himself, to be pushing for a first team place and on the bench always when fit for ourselves, with the amount of competition for places, we currently have, says a lot about him. Added to the character of the man, shown best by his great friendship / banter with Koki Saito, he is a very important player for ourselves on many levels. Top man. 😎 [Post edited 14 Oct 8:36]

He was only on for 15 mins, so not that much time to ignore him - I don't think he was really - in the closing stages the general idea was to test the German defence aerially, even leaving Ballard (who had a really good game) up front towards the end. It nearly paid off.
Paul Smyth on 08:57 - Oct 14 with 1072 views | loftus77 | I thought a decent cameo from Our Man Paul last night. Caused the German defence a few problems in his time on the pitch and almost set up an equaliser. Very Well Done to him. Didn't get injured either, as far as I could see.

It's taken me a long time to really like him. Still far too prone to falling over at every available opportunity, still far too many wasted balls through not looking up. But his effort is good, his energy infectious. He really just needs a calmer head and maybe that is emerging. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think I also remember him taking Yang under his wing last season. Seems like a good bloke and one who goes out of his way to help integrate some of the lads who might otherwise struggle for language barrier.
Paul Smyth on 12:29 - Oct 14 with 638 views | QPRcounsellor | Overall, he's been a brilliant signing for QPR. Looking forward to see if he can push on this season and make an impact either as a starter or sub. The manager seems to like him, especially as he's got two goals. Cifuentes seemed to like him too. As has been mentioned before, it's probably no coincidence that both his goals have been coming in from the left, where most of his goals for Orient did too. That said, I do enjoy watching him attack the Loft on the Ellerslie side of the pitch in the second half.
Paul Smyth on 15:04 - Oct 14 with 340 views | nix | I remember years ago watching us play against Huddersfield away not long before they were promoted. We were faced with wave after wave of attacks down each flank as their fullbacks pushed right up. I think I posted at half time that we needed to push up to counter it as we were creaking. That's what Paul Smyth does, he makes the fullbacks sit back with his pace. I'd love him to get more goal involvements this season. I agree with Connell they should have passed to him more in a position where he could run at Germany.
Paul Smyth on 15:16 - Oct 14 with 293 views | Lblock | I'm sure when he came on last night he took up a RWB position which I thought was a bit odd?! I've spoken to Smythy (at the end of his first stint at the club). Proper good lad and, from my brief interlude, a lovely fella who any parent would be proud to call their own. I was never a fan of Hair Island McLaren and I'd take a punt on Smythy also shared that view. Best of luck to Smudge rest of this season........ I never thought I'd see him score a header in the six yard box out jumping a defender so who knows where he could be in a few months?!?!
