And here but the owners can’t be held to ransom if AS asks too much as he may, holding all the cards. We’ll have to wait and see but this needs sorting definitively on day 1 after the season ends. [Post edited 22 Apr 15:44]

WBA will pay him double and will assure him of finances for squad restructuring. I will be surprised if we don't sort it now a week on Sunday will be to late.

I’m beginning to think that if they were going to give him the job they woukd have done by now. Or at least had the discussion! It could be they don’t plan on it but are keeping him in the dark until the end if the season so as to get the best out of him. I’ve said before that I’d be very surprised if WBA don’t approach him at least. Or haven’t done!

I would be very surprised if there wasn't agent conversations before they sacked their manager. I wouldn't blame Sheehan in the slightest if he goes, he should have been tied down by now. I really hope this doesn't backfire on us.

Let’s hope they’ve both said end of season - if Sheehan excels (as he has) he’s in a stronger position to ask for what he needs We can understand not giving him the job yet as it’s probably thrown a few spanner’s in the works We should really commit to him now though - he’s earnt it and got us all on board (even most of the initially sceptical)

The negativity is aimed at our powerbrokers inability to see and act on the obvious. Unless Sheehans demands are unrealistic (maybe more so on the transfer budget he'd need to replace Darling and Delcroix and O'Brien more than his personal terms) then there's no logical reason as to why they would stall. He's won the fans over, he's guided us to safety, the results of the next two matches are irrelevant so any discussions/negotiations are not going to derail our season. They may well prefer this Hellberg, fair enough, but it's a hell of a roll of the dice. If they don't secure Sheehan whoever comes in would need to start the season very strongly to get the fans back on board because the majority (myself included) will be sceptical at best. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Just give him the job on 23:28 - Apr 22 with 1230 views | BarryTownSwam | AS stated quite openly in his post QPR interview that the job wasn’t nailed on for him and the club and him needed to be ‘aligned’. Is he hinting that he feels the club and him are not ‘aligned’ so the job isn’t of genuine interest to him. Has he been told he’s not getting the budget to sign Darling etc? Or a few of his regular selections are going to be replaced with younger/cheaper etc? Is he sensible enough to realise the budgetary and operational restraints make it a job he’s unlikely to succeed in? There’s also the issue of family and career and doing what’s best for the AS family. - as a coach he can get another job (his stock is high) but fail as a manager (and if he and the club not aligned’ there’s no certainty of success) he could be out of work very quickly and remain a ‘failed manager’ for a long time. AS strikes me as a cautious calculated man who will take his time weighing up his options before committing to any role at any club. And we should support this.
Just give him the job on 00:02 - Apr 23 with 1187 views | STID2017 | Have the powers that be had a meeting either with Sheehan or amongst themselves to discuss the appointment of Sheehan or A N Other ? If not why leave it so late in the day ? Totally baffling and smacks of amateurism to me on the clubs part

Excellent post. Things are never quite as straight forward as they seem and what we see is only the tip of the iceberg. Taking into account what you say about not being aligned and therefore not getting the backing, this may be the attraction of Hellberg. He will be more knowledgable with cheaper options of Darling and O’Brien for example playing in Northern Europe. This will be attractive to the Swans board. It’s no good appointing AS then stripping him of key players with no adequate replacements in place. He knows this hence him not appearing to be champing at the bit to take the job.

They are still thinking it over as of this evening. Let’s be honest, they’ve got him under contract for another ten days or so. I would doubt it is anything more than that. They are relying on his loyalty to complete that contract. As stated yesterday he is aware who else is interested in him. That may be the reason why he is more cautious. He wants a meeting to conclude matters and as he said and we agreed we all thought it would be over by now. That hasn’t happened. This has dragged on, with the club making staff redundant or laying them off maybe we have a situation not dissimilar to Ben Cabango and Harry Darling last year ? The more time they take the more money they save ?

They saved money on Cabango we will have to wait and see if they have saved money on Darling. Maybe dithering with Darling has cost us the defender, maybe the same with Sheehan. Time will tell.

Had we got together a contract last summer, he would have signed it. May have been more negotiations but as far as we are concerned they delayed for too long. And look where we are.

Nothing to do with this thread, but Anyone watching the snooker ? Is it me, or does Mark Selby look like Alan Sheehan? Especially when he’s looking down when queuing. I’ll get my coat !
