Cutting humour.
And all the reasons why England would never have appointed him. They cut their noses off big style.

Even today there's no one that I can think of who came anywhere near Clough biting wit .

"In a free society, the State is the servant of the people—not the master."

Good progressive labour man Clough.
Supported the miners, of course.

I would love to have his view on the likes of Farage and Johnson. But i think we know what it would be.

Clough, Stein, Shankly all big time Socialists, I don't think they will be happy what has become of this country.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

3 managers were interviewed to be the new England manager in 1977 - Brian Clough, Bobby Robson and Laurie Mcmenemy.

The position was given to Ron Greenwood. They announced their decision without even informing Greenwood!! 😂

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

For me back in a time when Labour and the unions meant something and fighting hate was actually that.

Politics actually meant something back then.

Alan Sugar made some highly critical observations about him which needs to be taken into consideration.

He was what is called "a proper football person" and they like to do things in their own way which often is not auditable.

Cardiff city are tidying up issues left over from using such people perhaps.

He was asked once what happens when he has a difference of opinion regarding a player ,
with one of his management team ; such as where the player's best position might be in the team.

Clough - " Well we sit down over a cup of tea discuss the matter at length and then decide that I was right all along ".

But they didn’t win the European Cup twice.

Fair point. One such character has an excellent record of getting teams out of the championship though.

My favourite manager of all time

Lucky england didn't appoint him as they would have gone close to win major championships.

And he’s the greatest manager Wales never had. I remember Clough went to The Vetch for an interview around ‘85 but he never got the gig (I forget the reasons now but I think they were political). We’ll never know how good he’d have made the Welsh side, unfortunately 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I have had a the look at the Lord Sugar quote. Sugar was actually quoting Terry Venables not talking about personal experience. That therefore reduces it credibility.

Clough himself challenged Sugar to repeat it outside the High Court and said he would sue. Clough stated that things said in the HoC and High Court were not subject to libel law but that actually not correct wrt the High Court.

Sometimes given the cost of legal action it is better to brush it off.
