Soul for sale or already gone? 18:19 - Apr 29 with 2859 views | Joiedevivre | Based on this random chap’s post on X: ‘I’m just gonna say I don’t want Saudis or Americans anywhere near this club one thing I love about this club is how authentic it feels it feels like a community bring them in and you can say bye bye to that feeling.’ Firstly, does anyone feel this sense of authenticity or community feel within the club itself? Secondly, how would the selling of our club to an American or Foreign State change your views on Saints?
Soul for sale or already gone? on 18:32 - Apr 29 with 2806 views | felly1 | We've already been owned by a Chinaman and a Swiss German. We're currently owned by a Serbian , so for me I couldn't care less who owns us as long as they are not criminals or gangsters.
Soul for sale or already gone? on 18:33 - Apr 29 with 2801 views | cocklebreath | No the club lost that feeling years ago, the owners couldn’t give a sh!t about its history or the local fans. Brighton are lucky to have a fan as an owner but most clubs are like us

Soul for sale or already gone? on 11:53 - Apr 30 with 2324 views | franniesTache | I don't want Saudi owners despite what the money might do because I despise sport washing and what it means/does to the game. I don't want American owners because i don't trust them not to use their influence to completely change the structure of the game. I realise that means we'll almost certainly never be competitive and the things i hate about the others will happen anyway. But somethings in life are more important than the football club

But Americans who seem to be doing it for all the right reasons (from a fan point of view). Well it appears that way from the outside

American owners seem to have done alright for Liverpool. More's the pity.

Soul for sale or already gone? on 13:08 - Apr 30 with 2203 views | TripleNiemi | Football and Saints lost its soul when we sold out to the Devil (BSkyB / Premier League). Whilst football in the 90’s changed massively (and has since), the final straw will be a closed shop American style top league containing the worlds elite. Games thereafter will be played in Outer Mongolia to appease the United and Scouse plastics. I just want an honest owner that knows the history of Saints, not some shonky crook ala Pompey style those years back that shafted charities. [Post edited 30 Apr 13:12]

The issue with the American owners is that when they eventually form a majority in the premier league they'll change the rules to make the game more American. Less share of TV revenue, more fixture times changed, clubs pulling out of the league cup and FA Cup, games abroad etc. We all know that's what they want (plus the super league and an end to promotion/relegation) they just can't do it now
Soul for sale or already gone? on 13:37 - Apr 30 with 2128 views | A1079 | I want an owner or owners that are competent and know what they are doing, have a vision and a plan and whilst anyone can make an error they don't keep repeating the same errors. I want a manager that understand the league, can adapt style etc to the situation, game, can create a winning attitude and has a passion for the club and team they are managing. I want a set of players who really want to play for the club, play from the first to the final whistle of each game, can do the job that is expected of them and has a winning and never say die attitude to every game - accepting of course we can't win every game. Is all of that too much to ask?

TV revenue is equally shared in the NFL.

I'm not sure what relevance the NFL has to do with what the american owners have said they want from english football. And lets be honest as bad as we've been i think we're still better at playing football than america rugby players
Soul for sale or already gone? on 15:21 - Apr 30 with 1989 views | barry_sanchez | It could be Pol Pot or Idi Amin I couldn't give a shite if they gave us success, all the others have sold out, we're historically an absolutely shite club for a top tier (ish) one so why not? Morals? Fair play, now show me the days out, trophies and memories.

Soul for sale or already gone? on 15:56 - Apr 30 with 1941 views | saint901 | For me, I understand that without significant investment over a prolonged period, our club will forever be "average" with occasional good and bad seasons. So if owners with money and a plan (and preferably either enough knowledge to be willing to buy that knowledge) came along, we would be foolish to take umbrage. There are however - for me - some red lines. I am by no means a woke snowflake looking for "diversity" and "equality" in the team, the coaches or the employees of the club. I want the right people doing the right job. I do however think that some regimes - and those who benefit from them and support them - have values that I would not wish to be given credence by attaching our club's name to them. These - for me - include many nations who practice discrimination or have have religious rules which (usually) favour men over women or require unthinking obedience to a set of rules designed to subjugate the weak. I am also anti dictator because this tends to go hand in hand with corruption and I do not want to see our club being used as a money laundering machine. Out and out capitalist hedge fund - no problem. Old money family - no problem.
