đź”´ Zeidane Inoussa updated on 15:37 - May 4 by Dr_Winston | The Bank of England inflation calculator suggests that ÂŁ1.5m in 2010 would equate to ÂŁ2.28m today. Not that we paid that much for him. It was an initial ÂŁ500k with the potential to rise to ÂŁ1m. ÂŁ500k then would be worth approx ÂŁ760k now. [Post edited 4 May 15:40]

Football inflation is on a different planet to BoE inflation. Fees and wages in football have gone up a lot more than standard inflation. If we wanted to buy Scott Sinclair at todays prices we'd be looking at 2 million or more, wouldn't we?

🔴 Zeidane Inoussa updated on 12:46 - May 4 by jack247 | I’m with you on this. It’s putting the house on us being able to increase revenue quite dramatically. If we don’t, we’re sailing close to the wind for a few years, without further spending (not this deal in isolation, but spreading big fees over long terms in general). Having said that, I’ll bow to Tyler Morse when it comes to increasing revenue. If he’s confident in it, that gives me a bit of comfort. |
The only way to increase the revenue is a successful team. The only way to increase commercial revenue is success on the pitch. These days you want talent you have got to pay for it. There is always risk with investment but you have to speculate to accumulate. This guy coming in might be a master stroke Widel will have a mate that speaks his language, that will help him settle in the area. I hope we also get another Korean in for eom. We are not talking bank breaking stuff here but the investment is needed badly in the squad . Year after year of selling our gems has really made us stagnant . I hope Bristol City go up via the play offs as this will show that the smaller budget clubs can compete. Next year we will have Birmingham and Wrexham coming up and no doubt competing for the top 6. Leicester city , Southampton and Ipswich. We need to spend to keep up look where our little cousins down the road have ended up.

For some reason I remembered it being higher. When I refer to inflation though I am not referring to Bank of England inflation, just like with every other piece of financial common sense football completely ignores the laws of physics on this. In 2010 the biggest fee for a striker was 40 million Euros for David Villa. The biggest signing in the Championship was David Jones for 5 million when he signed for Reading. In the summer of 2024 the biggest purchase was Mike Tresor by Burnley for 16 million. That's more than 300% of what was paid by Reading just 14 years prior. So while 5 million is a significant amount of money for us, its also not passively out of line with what I had thought we paid for Sinclair (1.5m)

I'd say more like 5m in today's market for Sinclair.
🔴 Zeidane Inoussa updated on 19:11 - May 4 with 2051 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | If you want to get anywhere in this game you need to take a bit of risk. The last few years we’ve signed a hell of a lot of players who “do the job” to a degree but then have no to little sell on value and/or leave for nothing. There’s nothing wrong with spending a bit of cash on a talented player who if he does well you could get £10 million a year or two down the line. The likes of Brentford were very good at doing that. So were we once upon a time.

Bianchini and Vipotnik for quite a few supporters are looking pretty poor based on this season. For me too. Obviously Franco and Eom are real positives. Ronald is marmite he’s either superb or very frustrating. Done well though this season for what he offers. Vigouroux a class signing. But Myles Peart-Harris was an example of making do. It seems that since Montague has stepped in and recruited a few with him from Brett Cravatt we are on to something.

I’m puzzled as to how a club like Brentford have managed to keep hold of their manager for so long.

Primarily through being on a constant upward trend, also they didn't walk into a perfect storm like we did when we got promoted and survived that first season where Liverpool came into the end of a disappointing season and were looking for a refresh. If Liverpool hadn't come in for Rodgers then there's no other club in the Premier League who would have realistically been able to poach him that were looking to fill the vacancy. Of course history might have worked out totally differently, we wouldn't have signed Michu or Chico or de Guzman for starters as they all came from Laudrup's contacts and knowledge of the Spanish league.

Welcome aboard. I know he is currently nursing a foot injury, but I wonder if this means that he won't play for them again since the Swedish league is in full swing right now. He isn't OUR player until July 1st after all

Inoussa wants to play for Häcken again until he officially becomes a Swansea player on the 1st july. Inoussa today: "BK Häcken is a club where I really enjoy myself and my main focus now is to come back and contribute in the matches I have left in yellow and black. I dream of a cup title! Then I am of course looking forward to the next step in my career, which has been possible thanks to my time in BK Häcken"

Fascinating. I have never heard of a deal being publicly announced like this so far ahead of the transfer window before. I can only assume that we have conditions in there entitling us to have the option to pull out of the transfer should he suffer some serious injury while still playing for Hacken.

To add to that, what a difference compared with the last 4 or 5 transfer windows. Zeidanne and hopefully Bobby Wales' transfer completed soon

🔴 Zeidane Inoussa updated on 14:54 - May 5 with 846 views | Cyberswan | Bit of background on Zeidane Inoussa from a Swedish interview between Zeidane and a Häcken "kitman" from a month ago. "- named after Zinédine Zidane as his father watched football so his family wanted him to be a football player. - In his spare time he watches series, reads, occasionally plays video games, trains and takes it easy. - Favourite club - Chelsea - Would love to play in the Premier League" Was very chilled, laid back, down to earth and patient under the interview.
🔴 Zeidane Inoussa interview from today on 16:26 - May 5 with 730 views | Cyberswan | Swedish interview with Zeidane Inoussa from Fotbollskanalen from today: "It just feels good and fun. I'm looking forward to my new chapter in life, a beaming Inoussa tells Fotbollskanalen about the move. - The process has been quick and smooth. Both my agent and I have spoken to a few different clubs from different leagues, then we thought Swansea had the best plan for me. I got the best feeling from Swansea, so the choice fell on them. What made Swansea stand out? - It felt like they really wanted me. Even though I'm injured now, there was no doubt that they wanted me there and saw me as a big and important player in their team building, which was a big reason for me. Inoussa doesn't want to mention which other clubs he has turned down, but says that there has been interest from, among others, Italy and Germany. - It's nice that teams at that level have wanted me and that they have considered me good enough to play there. It's been nice to be able to have such options. Just under a month ago, Real Madrid star Luka Modric became a co-owner of Swansea. - It's funny. I'm not saying that just because he's a co-owner of Swansea, I've said it before too, but I think he's the best midfielder ever. At least of the ones I've seen, says Inoussa about Modric. The Swede goes on to say that he spoke to Modric on the phone before the move. - I actually did. It was really great fun. It was awesome, actually, says Inoussa happily. What did Mordic's words mean to you? - It meant quite a lot anyway to hear about his view of the project and why I should sign for them. It was really awesome. Inoussa says that it was relatively recently that he spoke to Modric on the phone. - It was really big. He mostly talked about the project, his view of the club and the team's future. Then I doubt that he's seen me play, but he said that he had heard positive things about me. It was a lot of fun. What do you dream of achieving with Swansea? - I want to go up to the Premier League. It would be my biggest dream to do it together with the team. If we manage to do it in my first season, it would be incredible. I absolutely want to be part of taking the club back to where it deserves to be - and that is in the Premier League. - Everyone I have spoken to only says positive things about the club. It is a very professional club, a nice club, which, quite like Häcken, wants to move forward and has a bright future where young players get the chance. I think that is very good. Inoussa says that he has also spoken to his friend Joel Asoro, who was at Swansea between 2018-2021, before the move. - I asked him a little about how it's been there. He really only said positive things, so it felt even better after that conversation. Furthermore, Inoussa is clear about his own, long-term goals with his career. - I want to play at the highest level and represent Sweden in some championship. I want to play in the best leagues and the best matches. That's my dream. How would you say that the Swansea move affects your chances of playing for the national team in the future? - I think it only strengthens my chances. Jon Dahl Tomasson has been a coach in the Championship (in Blackburn 2022-2024), so he knows the level in that league and that it's not easy to play in. Have you talked to Tomasson? - No, I haven't actually. Nothing at all. The move to Swansea won't happen until July, however. In total, there have been twelve goals and nine assists in 40 matches in the yellow-black Häcken shirt so far - and Inoussa hopes for more before he says goodbye. - First and foremost, I want to win cup gold. Then I want to play as many matches as possible and do as well as possible. I just want to enjoy the last moments together. But first and foremost, I hope we win the match on May 29 (cup final against Malmö FF). How has your time in Häcken been? - It has been fantastic. It really is a nice club and I have felt at home since the first day I set foot in the clubhouse. It has only been a positive time. I have Häcken to thank for allowing me to take this step now. At the moment, Inoussa is also suffering from a foot injury that has meant he has missed the first seven rounds of the Allsvenskan. He hopes it will heal soon. - It is getting better and better every week. It's hard to say when I'll be back, but it looks bright, he says, and concludes by saying that he expects to be able to play more matches for Häcken as long as he doesn't have any setbacks."
