Walking round town this afternoon and along with almost everyone else, rubbing my eyes, sneezing and snarching and trying to cover my face, under attack from the plane trees. Never known it so bad.

I suffer very badly from late February to the end of April.
I used to get an injection but it’s not particularly good for you as it contains steroids.
I just do the nose spray first thing every morning and I find it works a treat . Coats the membranes up and protects them .
Give it a try .

I suffer with hay fever and I'm asthmatic, I'm prescribed Mometasone furoate for the asthma and also for the asthma I have to Inhale Trimbow 87/5/9 In the morning and at night.
Today I cut the grass and emptied the contents into the Brown garden waste bin without a problem, another time I'll be breathless within seconds, I'm prescribed Salamol inhaler for the both issues, I cant/daren't leave home without my Inhalers.
Love being In me garden but sometimes I have to go indoors because of the pollen we have two trees In our garden a silver birch and a magnolia tree, wouldn't be without them but the magnolia tree Is just starting to grow It's flowering buds.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Thank you Mr Sheen for adding another layer to my hit and miss education. I was completely unaware of the plane tree, planetree, until reading this thread, but I've wiki'd, so now I'm an expert.
Hard to believe my years of hiking / walking / observing nature and stuff, did not at least bestow an awareness of such a word, let alone recognition.
In my defence, I see we just refer to them as sycamores in the Hugh Essay.

Maybe as I don't suffer from hay / any type of fever, I'm blissfully unaware of the dangers that surround some of us.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

I’m no naturalist but I first learned to identify the plane tree when one tried to demolish my grandparent’s house in the drought of 1976. A lot of councils when to war with them afterwards but Westminster is thick with them. It never bothers me normally but with the lack of rain means the ground is carpeted with the pollen in places and yesterday’s breeze stirred it up and brought down a fresh batch. People, including me, were walking round like they were in a sandstorm. Great news for the pubs.

I tried years ago to identify trees with the kids and the i-spy book - impossible - we thought we'd identified one only for it to be native to Canada only so we went back to the bird book - much easier. I don't suffer from hayfever but my friend, who stays between here and Tenerife says as soon as he lands here he gets it - and Cornwall especially - and then it goes as soon as he lands in Tenerife. So there's one solution. I don't know if the saline nasal spray you can get for a few quid is any good - I get the kid's one as it's got no side effects and it seems to clear anything in that area before it gets going?

Also the weather going from tropical to arctic in the space of a couple of days doesn't help much either!

I took my mum to Hawksmoor for her 70th birthday on Saturday. The staff thought i was having an allergic reaction to shellfish my hayfever was so bad (i'd got some pollen directly in my eye on the way in and it was just ballooning)

I thought the title was referring to a potential new manager.....

Seriously though, I thankfully suffer very little from it but know those who do and it's a bi@tch. A few people in the office sneezing today too.

It's the bloody drowsiness that's doing me in. Really struggling to concentrate on work.
Going to try the nasal spray.

I thought the same too. Sounds like a Scandinavian manager to me

At Lords on Saturday, I sat outside at the Lords Tavern and I could see the pollen in the air. It was covering cars in a light dusting. I could not stop coughing to the point I had to have a yoghurt to coat my throat and wait for the antihistamines to kick in.

My asthma is horrendous during March/April and coincides with tree pollen. Rest of the year it is good as gold.
It's definitely gotten worse over the past 15/20 years.

I've never suffered anything other than mild hayfever sympyoms until the last few months, then absolute hell.
