For a player who Russell Martin wanted rid of and made it very well known - he remains at the club today. One year left on his contract he will surely ride it out as no club will come in and rival his Swansea contract.

At the time we had a few thick ones who still prevail today who found reading words very difficult.

Don't know if that's a dig at fans like me but as i've said countless times JF does nothing for me and tjr fewer mins he's on the pitch the better and i'm very much hoping that AS and the club are not thinking about contract extention.

No way mate, not a dig at anyone. If certain fans like to rake up reports from four years ago then so can we šŸ‘

When he cames on he is a wrecking ball. He did not look like a Swansea footballer to me.

On the other hand he creates disorder and chaos. For this reason he belongs in the opposition half preferably their box for Cullen and Vipotnik to feed off scraps. Carton Palmer mark two.

Part of the transition away from the Swansea apex under Laudrup. He would not have featured under Michael or Brendan or Roberto.

At the club for eleven years. Nearly 300 games played in either the Premier League or the Championship. Sixteen goals. Been a regular first team choice for almost every manager he's had. A go to guy for Sheehan now he's no longer shackled to Grimes. Still only 31.

Not a first choice, but a player who has done what was needed when it was needed. Will never get the credit he is due.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

He won’t, but I don’t see what he gives us now within the new regime. He shone under Cooper.

No club will take him off our hands atm, he’s on far too much money.

I doubt he would go out on loan when he is in his last year, he would become forgotten and end his Swansea career on loan. Maybe he thinks that he is in Joe Allen territory for an extra year or two from 2026.

Sheehan has used him often enough since he took over to make me think that rumours of his potential demise may be exaggerated.

He most certainly will play next season I’m certain, Martin tried to get rid of him. So long ago now I can’t recall without looking what the reasons were. But they weren’t happy with each other.

He has done ok since Sheehan took over.

By no means our worse player but since Grimes has gone he has become the new player to get bashed no matter what.
But he is pretty good at coming on and disrupting whilst trying to defend a lead has done that numerous times recently.
I like to judge players game by game not just say they are rubbish then not change my mind no matter what.

We need 8/10 players, not 5/6 out of 10.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Assuming the swans will try to retain O'Brien or replace with another like for like possibly from the loan market, then said player with Franco and Widdel will likely be rotated round and fight it out for the starting XI. Fulton has been ok under Sheehan and I can see him being used as a backup next year if we can't move him on which as Keith suggests is unlikely (unless we agree to fund a % of his wages or give him a golden handshake to get the move over the line). I wouldn't be too disappointed to see him stay if used sparingly next year, otherwise we'd need to go out and replace anyway after losing Allen.

Correct - simply not good enough to be a Swan.

Should have tried centre back at 21 ?

He's a footballer's footballer. Reads the game better than anyone else at the club, still he doesn't run around aimlessly making mistakes and misjudgements around the pitch for 90 minutes which it seems everybody on here thinks is worth breaking the bank for. Opinions, eh?

100 per cent not as good as Joey Allen at reading the game. Sorry to disagree.

Sheehan used him to add height into the team when needed against teams who struggled to get through games on the floor and invariably resort to the high ball tactics , most noteably starting in the home game against Derby to many peoples dismay.
Played lots of good games under Cooper but with the right loans was a trusted go to player, ignored under Martin in the first part of the season being brought back later in the season which most fans called for. Grimes, Fulton, Downes and Ntcham would have been a solid midfield with Paterson vying for game time missed opportunities.
With Allen gone would rather keep Fulton until that midfield is settled for next season.
Edited a the lack of a comma made it a nonesense read, again.

He doesn’t let us down when called upon and won’t again next season.

We look to be evolving the squad and bringing in better players than we have done for a while. That will naturally lead to players being phased out in the medium term. I’d expect Fulton to be a part of that when his contract expires, but I wouldn’t take anything away from his performances, he’s been an important player for us.

Him and Paterson did little for mental health of the management at the time. Not because Fulton was in any way not professional. It was more about the shit that was flying about with the aforementioned cowards on the ā€˜say what you like thread’

Crazy.

He’s been a lucky lucky boy to have had such a long career with us. He has a good physical presence & is not afraid to mix it with the opposition. But he has not developed from his early days with us when he first learned the basics of possession football.

He is negative, short back pass specialist. He goes missing & deliberately hides making himself unavailable for his team mates. Not even a squad player for me, give the shirt to a youngster with potential

To be fair the worst of his negativity came when playing alongside Grimes. Like the old shop floor mentality - ā€œthe management think the sun shines out of Matty’s arse and he does piss all so I’ll do the sameā€. Especially an easy trap to fall into when two nylon trousers insisted the team play along the back 90% of the game.
He’s looked much better since both Grimes and Williams left.

Didn't Cabango and other get sucked into the two yard pass mentality.

I very much agree! Fulton is a "wrecking ball", brought in to disrupt the opposition's flow of game. Very important that Swans have a back-up to Franco, who is deservedly the starter for this position on the field. No, I don't think he'll be offered an extension at current wages but since we have him, there's no harm in using him as in relief of other defensive midfielders.

Unfortunately for him, he participated in the Matt Grimes/Martin ticky-tack football mentality that we all despised. Never understood why he was in Martin's doghouse for almost half a season with both Martin and the club trying to make him look like the villain.

On the bright side, he has on rare occasions contributed a goal or two, but blowing up the opposition's counter is his forte.
