I think that allowing this training in the current climate is downright stupid and reflects very badly on Starmer. It could well be because he doesn't want to annoy the Americans. It's at best a bad decision and at worst utterly foolhardy, in my personal opinion. The Uk government needs to condemn Netanyahu while making it clear that both sides are to blame and they BOTH need to come to the table and find a better way. Good luck with that. Hamas never will as long as a rogue government supports them and Ntanyahu also has his own agenda. A few thousand deaths every day doesn't trouble him.

Israel backed Hamas back in the day, made them what they are today, most people would not know that, before you ask find your own links.

You think most people don't know that? You have obviously missed or ignored a previous post of mine on another thread. israel supported Hamas even after they started attacking, right up til 1989 the year after Hamas produced its founding charter. Isn't it a tad arrogant to believe you are always right and that others do not know the things you post? There are several people on here (I don'tinclude myself) who are very knowledgeable and well informed and certainly cleverer than you.

Say the truth now Cat, you have learnt a lot off my posts haven't you ?, don't lie now, you very often respond with questions to me and I answer and then I've noticed you have looked at links and copy and paste the links, which more often than not back up what I've said, but I've made you look haven't I ?

Learnt? from you? Whoever makes a post, when I agree or disagree I post that opinion. If what I say backs a post up then it is my opinion. I have learnt a lot from some posters over the years, Davillin, Warwick, Scotia, JohnLangy, Gwyn, to name a few. In more recent years there's been many posters I have learnt something from, OHL, Joesus, STID, Fireboy and others, even Kilkenny. There are a few names missing though. I am honestly struggling to remeber a single thing you have posted that I have learned directly from. About the best thing I can say is you posted something, I looked into it and discovered the truth wasn't quite what you posted. So I guess I did learn something, just not quite the way you mean. Every day is a learning day for all of us.

Now that right there is a lack of comprehension. What I said was I looked into stuff you'd posted and learned the truth. Lets face it, you hardly post on a vast array of subjects, mostly Immigration, Irelnad, Gaza, Welsh politics. I haven't even noticed you posting very much about the Swans on the football board.. That is the big thing see, when there's a subject you don't know much about, maybe even nothing about you can do research, read about it. I learned stuff about the law from Davillin (and Jonalot) and I learned stuff about the education system from Gwyn, people on here share a large menu of knowledge AND I watch the news, it's amazing what you can learn from the news. I don't always correct you, sometimes I agree and sometimes I don't bother answering | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Well apparently the people of Gaza have turned against Hamas and Iran back Hamas, maybe it happened and because they see getting rid of Iran as a way to be rid of Hamas?

There's almost certainly a large proportion, perhaps even a majority of people in Gaza who would quite like to be rid of Hamas and try to live in Peace with Israel. Unfortunately Hamas have all the guns and basically ran the place as a criminal enterprise. Aid money (along with plenty of funding from Tehran) was consistently redirected towards building a terrorist infrastructure, the same one that the Israelis are doing so much collateral damage now trying to destroy.

They might be. Not quite the same thing but when people have been asked about anti Hamas demonstrations out there, they think that there are foreign hands involved. [Post edited 18 Jun 17:53]

Hamas is losing support compared to previous polls of Palestinians but the people have not turned their back on them, it might happen in the future but that has not happened yet.

From what I've seen people are dissatisfied but are still more likely to vote for Hamas than Fatah and I'm not aware of any other parties in the running, it can change as Hamas has been losing some support but they are still ahead of Fatah in a recent poll.

It's not about who to vote for. It' about how many in Gaza actually support Hamas and what I've read says only about 20%. theguardian.com/world/2025/feb/11/amid-the-ceasefire-wrangling-how-popular-is-hamas-in-gaza-now See that tramps, a link, copy and paste.

I don't think your opening paragraph is correct, if the biggest party has only 25% of the vote but still wins an election it wins the election and that is it.

Yes I know how a vote works but this is about has support for Hamas dropped. .Clearly it has.

There is no disputing that but if there was an election as things stand per polls they would win.

So my opening paragraph is correct and I doubt if there'll be free and fair elections in Gaza anytime soon.

What Hamas promised the people of Gaza in order to be elected is worth researching.

Here is the upto date poll:- 32% for Hamas, followed by 21% for Fatah ,12% for third parties, 7 months ago, 36% said they support Hamas and 21% said they support Fatah, so Hamas support based on this has not dropped that much, I would have expected it to have dropped more. Interestingly they dont want Hamas to dissarm, they don't think Israel would withdraw if Hamas gave up their arms, they don't think Israel would withdraw if the hostages were released and they think Hamas will still be in charge after the war.

They thought that the Palestinian Authority was corrupt and in Israel's pocket. Perversely Israel thought that Hamas would be easier to deal with, looks like they got that one wrong.

Have you a link to that poll because what I've found is 3 months old and says very different, theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/feb/21/people-gaza-future-hamas-poll Only 21% support Hamas with 32% saying no one represent s the peoples views. And there's this from May, it's a lot totrawl through, pcpsr.org/en/node/997
