Fabianski - Why not? 23:08 - May 16 with 3897 viewsMartyn

So if Fisher is sold. Why not Fabianski? On a free - 1 yr rolling contract.

He reclaimed his spot in the West Ham starting 11 mid season and made 16 starts for them in PL at age 39. Just turned 40.

Before you all pooh pooh this thought consider this from Fabs back in January during an interview with Viaplay Sport Polska

"Fabiański revealed that he harbors a personal dream of playing once more for Swansea City in the Premier League or a cup match. He clarified that this is merely a personal wish and not indicative of any confirmed transfer interest from the club."

Anyone want to pass that along to the powers that be at the club.???

Additionally after a lil more digging....

Fabianski turned down a move back to Legia Warsaw 2 days ago telling the sporting director there he wanted to stay in England for a few more years

More than happy with Vigouroux we need back up but not Fabianski. They already have plans in place, possibly promoting from within or we would have kept McLaughlin.

Fish did well out on loan and they don’t seem to want rid of him so I can’t see Fabianski coming here (which I’d love because he was sensational here).

Does he still have a house in Southgate?

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Not sure I can face another season of being threatened with him coming on or stepping into play.

He has a transfer fee on his head, I would hope we go and get the most we can.

" Fish did well"
Couldn't read any more
Absolutely the worst of the very very worst if our buys with a contract that was chocking
I'd never want him in our shirt again, like McBurnie

re "We already have a goal keeper".

Not suggesting Fabs comes in as No 1. But look at what Fabs said visa vi happy to play cup game. Cup matches are when teams play their back up goalkeeper. Just playing cup games means he is also acknowledging he would be a back up

Think how much he could pass on to our goalkeepers with 15 years experience at the top.

Turning down a move back to his original club Legia Warsaw just 3 days ago to stay in England means he is going to keep playing for 1 or 2 more years somewhere.

And isnt one of our lower level criteria for signing a player is that the player really wants to come and play for us. Clearly Fabs does, said so

This wont happen but its a nice thought. For me anyway.

Well that rules us out then... Given Swansea is in Wales.

Evan Watts and Margetson or on the books. It would cut the wage bi to have n them Vigs back up but maybe does not help their development. Ideally they would play early season cup ties then go on loan.

It's not a position I think we need to focus on. Vig was healthy and consistent last year and will be the number 1 again next. If rated.... Watts or Margetson should become the number 2 and have a few chances in cup fixtures next year before going out on loan as a number one elsewhere in 26/27 to gain much more first team experience before looking to take up the gloves from Vig from 27/28 onwards (that's what's called succession planning).

What about Broome?

12 months left on his contract and he seems a bit of a mystery really. We lent him to Port Vale and was back up keeper, I don't think he played a game. At 23 I'm not sure his future is with us.

The question is if a youngster is better off as a back up keeper for us with baring injury will have limited game time
Or better going out on loan to a league club that will give him game time.
If it’s the later then a keeper like Fabianski at the right price could well be a good option

Fabianski would need to play for virtually nothing in comparison to previous earnings to come here as back up keeper. I would say around the £5K a week mark. I just can't see him moving his family for that.

My second favourite Swans keeper after big Rog.

I wouldn’t like to see him come back and spoil those memories.

agree with 3swan, both younger goalkeepers would just be sitting on the bench all season, they need a loan somewhere where they are playing.

As far as I am concerned there needs to be a new incoming backup GK if Fisher is sold as he needs to be. Final year of contract. Get something for Fisher

No need for Fabs to move his family for a 1yr contract, he aint a million miles from home

Due to the way the fixtures fall it is entirely possible to play the majority of u21 matches and be a bench keeper for the first team. Margetson did it a couple of weeks ago.

Ok, but they could do with senior team games in league 1 or 2 before being thrown into senior games at Championship level.

Either way I am happy with Margetson being the back up or a new gk on 1 yr contract like Mclaughlin was

Margetson is 18 and will be just 19 when next season starts, can you see a club in league one or two taking a chance on him as first choice at that age. To go and be back up he's better off here.

Or maybe he's piling onto the Wrexham gravy train, along with Darling, O' Brien, McBurnie, Vardy, De Bruyne, Messi, Mbappe, Luke Littler etc etc.

Huge wages
We got viggy

Why do we always want players back who left us?

We are the club of 2.0s

Allen come back to late to change things
Bony didnt work should never of left us

The only player who come back that has gone right in modern times is ayew.

Lads we need young blood someone was on about mcburnie on twitter saying come back.
With @ him+club
Like the club take transfer advice off some twitter moron with no football knowledge.
I commented I didn’t think it was a good move.
We need to stop bringing people back here that has jumped ship.
They didn’t care about us when they left for a few extra quid.

If fab had stayed we would have gone back up.
Now he is to old and expensive.

Let’s blood our kids the Swansea way is youth and thrifty business.
Our club isn’t a retirement home or a last pay out place.
We need to find the next Joel P turn over and reinvest properly.

Can’t wait to see Bobby Wales in the championship.
As for number 2 we need to give young marge a chance.
The only way I would want Fab is if he was really cheap + took up a coaching roll with the academy.
Other than that we have Viggy that is a prem standard keeper on his day.

Let’s stop being so bloody soppy lads.
Also let’s lift our standards a player leaves they spit on our badge.
There is only one player that I would want back here that would be Rodon.
But we don’t get them in prime condition.
We get them too late and it is regressive behaviour.

Poll: Does williams keep his job after this?
