5 Things About Everton 21:33 - May 19 with 2368 views | SaintNick | 1. I have to say the fans knew how to celebrate the end of an era at Goodison, the city centre after the game was a sea of blue and you could hear them singing in all the pubs. 2. The hour long celebration might have been good for Everton fans but it was a bit boring for the Saints supporters who stayed and it was a damp squid with the musical entertainment at the end. 3. Their were a few Everton fans some possibly touts offering £300 or so for tickets, I saw a couple of people except 4. You could have a beer in the ground after the game, but the bars in the away end were shut about 15 mins afterwards. 5. It was a pity we couldnt get the final goal ever at Goodison

5 Things About Everton on 22:57 - May 19 with 2240 views | Southamptonfan | Great day out. The Everton fans were ever so friendly. Many wishing us luck, and not one song about us going down. Got offered money for my ticket a few times, one fan offering a grand. It was a great view in the top tier, about 5 rows from the front. The rendition of all the Everton songs before kick off was incredible, really loud with the whole ground singing in unison. Didn't stay for the hour long celebration, It was an easy drive out of Liverpool after the game. Straight after the game, there were hordes of Everton fans right outside the away end, trying to get in, I assume they were thinking they would sit in the away section seats to watch the hour long celebratio that were being vacated by us away fans. Sad to see another proper traditional stadium gone. The new super sonic futuristic stadiums are modern yes, but they don't have that proper football ground feel. [Post edited 19 May 22:58]

Stayed in Liverpool Saturday and Sunday nights, had a great weekend Waited until 11 to go out to Walton Rd Spoons, which even though packed was still easy to get served. Was amazed how many fans in that area and around the ground were obvious only there for the atmosphere and not going to the game, and the amount of empty beer bottles and cans made me think it was there and not Birmingham that had the bin strike. As Nick said Everton fans in ground concentrated on celebrating the occasion rather than taking the p*ss out of the Saints fans. Didn’t stay, it seems wisely, for post match celebrations, and after we managed to fight our way out of the ground, got back to Dale St by cab in record time, and watched tail end of events there on TV All Everton fans we met very friendly all weekend and managed to meet up with a lady possibly an old acquaintance in Dispensary who we chased off the pitch at Highbury in 1984, but a much friendlier meeting 41 years on Apart from game, where we only really played last 30mins, cracking weekend, as it usually is in Liverpool. 5 Things About Everton on 07:53 - May 20 with 1985 views | solent_toffee | The entertainment was perfect for the occasion, having a band play would have only be good for those who like that genre of music. As it was the music was all Everton related and was great, mixed in with former players and interviews. Great to see loads of Saints fans in and around the ground way before the game having a drink and enjoying the day.
5 Things About Everton on 08:50 - May 20 with 1904 views | Buggalugs | 1. Going via London is a much more pleasurable route than Cross Country via Brum. The Avanti West Coast trains are far superior to the usual crap we travel on. 2. Liverpool is so lively and there was some serious fanny out and about in the city on the Saturday day/night. 3. Got off bus to ground at Everton Valley and underestimated the chaos and how long it'd take to get through the crowds to the away end. Felt a bit weird gate crashing someone else's big day. 4. Plenty of Everton fans in our end, but they kept a low profile, didn't celebrate their goals and only made themselves known when most Saints had gone. Didn't have a problem with that at all. 5. I stayed for the majority of the after-match stuff but felt a bit guilty that there were so many empty seats that Everton fans could have had. Just the way it had to be I suppose. 6. Kopites are gobshites

5 Things About Everton on 09:26 - May 20 with 1862 views | franniesTache | 1. Saturday night in Liverpool was class, felt like town used to feel back home with pubs and bars buzzing and people about till late, made me realise what we've lost in the centre of Southampton 2. The atmosphere was the loudest i've heard in an english football ground for decades, their rendition of Grand Old Team pre game with all four sides going for it was deafening. 3. Chatting to loads of Evertonians outside in the pubs and streets was a highlight, there were generations of people there and a lot didn't have tickets. It felt like a proper community event. 4. Unlike going to Anfiled almost every accent you heard was scouse, in fact i think i only spoke to two non saints fans who didn't have scouse accents and one of them was (really f*cking weirdly) a Bolton fan from Salisbury!? and the other was from Basingstoke and supported... Liverpool 5. I know the day was about them but my god was there no effort from our players, it didn't even feel like a testimonial the effort was so low, the sooner we clear out these useless bastar*ds the better
5 Things About Everton on 11:41 - May 20 with 1751 views | Wints76 | 1. The crowd singing There She Goes before the game was fantastic. And that Spirit of the Blues song is really catchy. Oh, and that young girl playing Z Cars in the violin. Wow. 2. Town after was ace as well. Really good atmosphere in all the pubs. Great to spend some time with Solent Toffee 3. Felt a bit for Aaron Ramsdale. He came over to applaud us and everyone just clapped Charlie Alcaraz. I'm sure he knew it ws nothing personal 4. Pat Nevin took the time out to applaud all the Saints fans when walking round. Top man. Adrian Heath and John Bailey didn't. Understandable. 5. I don't blame the Scouse Liverpool fans, but the accents in the pubs afterwards were 99% local, or Wool at least. Liverpool will never have that again. Also, well done Saints fans for not squinnying or grassing on the few Everton fans in our bit [Post edited 20 May 15:16]

5 Things About Everton on 14:53 - May 20 with 1538 views | BLEEDRED | 1 Walking in Stanly Park at 9:00 Sunday morning was amazed at the number of picnics & barbecues in progress, 2 Watching the bus arrival, did not seem very well-organised, route change etc. but nobody seen to mind and a great party atmosphere 3 plenty of offers to buy my ticket best offer £500 4 Quite a few Everton fans in away stand, kept quiet and no problems, wonder if club will ban anyone(no) 5 Everton fans were great, and a good time was had by all

I can't think why those organising it weren't worried about making it more entertaining for the away fans.

I could not understand most of what was being said in the interviews!! No idea who the surprise group was at the end (not that good) The opening violist was good and emotional for Everton fans

Great to see you and your lad. My nephew is still having therapy after your suggestion that a year in the Championship would be a great thing! Also glad you all got the chance to boo Heath and Bailey one more time, it was kind of fitting.

It was brilliant to see so many nippers enjoying the occasion with their families . We were drinking in The Clock pre match and the buzz and atmosphere was quality. 3. We met the lad who preformed the poem post match the night before as one of our group had sorted him out a ticket. Lovely sound bloke. 4. No one around else would join in with our Adrian Heath chants. 5. franniesTache is a master at hailing a Taxi.
