Never liked them myself. They were introduced when people in employment only got Sundays and Xmas day off. If Xmas fell on a Sunday - tough.
Now people get 4 to 7 weeks holiday. Time to scrap them and get the economy back on track.

When I was working I mostly worked for German companies.
They have tons more Bank Holidays and some are on Thursdays!
They would then have what they called a bridge day off on the Friday.
Used to annoy the fck out of me when trying to get hold of someone in the factories.
Wish I had lived in Nepal for all those years. They get 35!
We are near the bottom with 8.

We were so poor the soles of my shoes were that thin if I stepped on a penny I could tell if it was heads or tails …. Couldn’t prove it though as no one had a fckin penny

Started work at 16 doing manual jobs, still doing a manual job at 58, made the decision this year to drop to a 3 day week, I work Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, gives me plenty of time to meet up with my kids/grandkids, also short city breaks Wednesday to Saturday without having to book annual leave.
Booked yesterday and today off so only work tomorrow, my mental health has drastically improved. |  |
