Yep. They're hugely outmatched and they know it. This way they can claim that they struck back without doing any serious damage.
The Iranians are in a tight spot. Militarily they don't even control their own airspace so the idea that they can land blows of any significance on the US or Israel is a non starter (the attacks on Israel have already significantly decreased as some predicted).
Carrying out their threat of blocking the Strait of Hormuz would not affect the US as it has its own supplies of oil, and Israel can always get it from the States. All such an act would do is piss off the other Gulf states, Europe, and also India and China.
I'd say the primary concern of the Iranian regime at the moment is holding onto power within their own borders. | |
