Yeah that is fair comment.

I guess what I’m alluding to is, if you find a way to beat better sides, chances are your manager is having a positive tactical influence on the team, if you’re losing to teams worse than you on a regular basis, chances are it’s the manager who’s having a negative tactical influence on the team.

If you’re beating worse teams but losing to better teams on a consistent basis then maybe the manager is not having a particularly strong influence on proceedings. I can’t recall us tactically winning games too often last season.

As I mention, just a nagging doubt, but not necessarily a correct one I’ll admit.

Does it matter how you get to your final position?

Another angle at last season’s results is the manager got them performing at their level, which was good enough to consistently get results against bottom ten teams but not good enough against top ten teams.

Is it preferable to beat Leeds and Burnley and lose three times to Peterborough? I don’t know. Last season may simply have been nothing more than a statistical anomaly.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

I mean, we beat Watford and Burnley under Ainsworth but he still makes people angry.

Sorry if this has already been asked or mentioned Clive, but are there any plans to reach out to Marti to do a interview with him about his time with us now hes a free man? It'd be interesting to get his perspective on how he thought it all went and how it ended. I seem to remember you doing something similar with Warbs after he left us which was interesting to hear. Although he didnt give much away!

I would imagine that as part of his settlement there are NDA's all over the place to prevent that

I find myself totally torn on this one. MC was the most erudite, elegant and to my mind compelling man we've had at the helm in many a moon. He made me want to travel to Preston, made me proud to be a hoop and that is not to be diminished, he brought dignity and culture back to our club after the shambles which preceded him.

But and it is an axial but, the second season was ultimately poor, some odd decisions, strange selections, frustrating and ultimately disappointing. We cannot settle for perpetual 16th and so perhaps it was time to move on. My heart says we should have stuck with Marti and his great song, but my head says Bonjour to the new guy, let's try and maintain the good vibes, the young fans, the sell out crowds and add a touch of steel, an assumption of winning, a push to get back to being more than perennial mid table mediocrity.

Bring on the new season. El Rey is gone, long live Le Roi

Warburton was on Hoopsa's YouTube channel. He's on our list of people we'd like to meet again.

As said above, absolutely swimming in NDAs so it's difficult. The spirit is willing but it would be waaaay off into the future.

I think I've actually got it confused with another interview Warbs did with Finney for the Open All R's pod last year.

That's all good to know, cheers!

Taken in isolation there nothing wrong with what Nourry said there. But it's meanspirited when compared to the fulsome, glowing and extended weird quotes he gives to any and every teenager we sign for the youth team

There was nothing mean-spirited about it and you know it. Criticise someone for what they do badly by all means but making things up to fit your pre-existing narrative is pathetic.

I do love that his agent speaking to other clubs and looking to progress his own career was seen as such a bad thing, if he'd walked out mid season very different story but having a flirt without leaving not sure what the problem is for a club who have a stand named after a bloke we all love who spent most of his QPR career putting in transfer requests and looking to move on.

Ultimatley we'll never know what happened until marti or Nourry does a book or a podcast in a few years

I don't think it is a bad thing but how does that fit with 'the Board forced him out' that keeps being trotted out as fact?

I agree we certainly won't know for sure for years. We do know he's ambitious and never stayed anywhere for more than two seasons.

I am grateful for what he achieved and sad but not surprised to see him leave. Also wouldn't be surprised to see him turn up with a new job soon.

It's no mystery really. The long and short of it is that he was sacked.
