Russ off to a flyer at Rangers on 00:09 - Jun 30 with 1946 views | swansjack84 | I had to double check the date on this article and see if it was actually a new one. It's not a good sign that the same thing is being said when he was with us and Southampton Yes it's 1 game and yes it will take time. No doubt he will go on a good run, but for me, this has the feeling of going down the way it did before for him.

Taken on a tough job there though. Many of their fans already don't like him because of his time at Ibrox as a player. Won't take much for the rest of them to turn on him.

Steve Cooper left no legacy with several extremely talented loans. Martin like Williams did not like Lowe and moved him on. Piroe was the perfect welcome gift. He has got more return out ofo Obafemi than any other manager. He brought in Downes who was exceptional good value and the club created cash from his transfer. He signed Darling too. He helped in the development of Cabango.

Correct, we had a picture taken of that occurrence. There were several issues then, Whittaker being the biggest. We had some good dialogue back then with his father who talked sense into Piroe and the rest is history. In fact we had some excellent insight into the club around that time. We could even work out when Jamie Paterson was in the team or not as he always parked his car in the apartments that Swansea have by the beach. Before, during and after his issues brought on by not getting his own way with his contract. Cunning buggers we are 😉

Just remind me not to make enemies with you 😅😅. Piroe more like Agatha Christie's Poirot. Either Russ was unlucky with the type of players he had at his disposal with attitude issues or Russ had some part to play on it. I Never forget Obefemi storming off down the tunnel too. The Pattinson saga as crazy, as well. How could I forget about that madness.

I would say it was more the player's having issues than the manger. Some maned up and progressed, some didn't where are they now.

Not saying it's related but Russ did have a habit of throwing the club and players at times under the bus. Obefemi for me was a wasted talent. His attitude got the best of him.

Russ had a unique style by putting players out of their comfort zone, same as Graeme Potter did. Not by ridicule but by seeing themselves in a situation, be that doing the opposite to what they believed in and then moving that on to the football pitch. Players with a lack of ability to understand it was personal development rebelled, those that didn’t are and were premier league footballers. It can be a dangerous game because it’s learning through your emotions and reacting to that. Most players who go through this and don’t see the benefit like Obafemi and Whittaker are where they are now as a result. Others will disagree because it’s Martin we are talking about, Potter used the exact same strategy which is why I think he hit a wall at Chelsea with all the prima donna’s he had to manage.

Didn't potter get his players at his previous club to do acting or theatre. I swear he tried to do something different with us. Going on a day trip on the dunes with the players or something.

You don’t get time as a football manager to implement a playing style if you are not winning. When the football is dour (like Martins) fans turn very quickly, Rangers fans won’t be as patience as Swans fans for sure.
Russ off to a flyer at Rangers on 07:40 - Jul 1 with 610 views | Dr_Winston | I guess the difference between Potter and Martin is that Potter was good enough at the other parts of coaching so the occasional hare brained lapse could be shaken off, whereas with Russy it appears to have been just another thing to tick off on his "Oooh! aren't I a progressive young manager! Give me a higher profile job!" list. There isn't a single season he's had as a manager where you could say that he's overachieved. Where his teams have done better than expected. It's almost always the opposite. Finishes of 19th and 13th with MK, 15th and 10th with us. Squeaked the playoffs with a Southampton squad and budget that should have been fighting for an auto promotion place. Embarassed himself in the Prem. No doubt he's hoping to have a couple of easy, successful years in Scotland to rehabilitate his reputation, a bit like Rodgers did when he first went to Celtic. His problem is that he's nowhere near as good a coach and will, in all likelihood, destroy what little is left of it.

He’s definitely on borrowed time. A few derby victories might help.
