Hadn't seen a thread on this - looking forward to the Tests, I've been getting in the mood watching the various Living With Lions documentaries they've got on Sky that cover previous tours; just finished the 2001 one (felt Lions could have won that tour but possibly were undone by self-harm with the controversial press articles that came out from Dawson and Healey). On to the 2005 one, where BOD got taken out of the tour by that spear tackle in the first minute of the 1st Test

I'd gladly swap a Lions test victory for England beating Argetina again next weekend.

Should be winning this 3.0 .
A team ranked 8th in the world. Anything else will be considered disappointing.

Yeah I'd forgotten the current Aussie team is not all that.

Still wouldn't take them lightly - and any Lions Test series win should be cherished!

Nah, Schmidt is a genius level coach who came in and master minded the All Blacks toppling Farrell in the quarter final (the tactics had his finger prints all over it). This is gonna be a battle. The main issue for Australia is that they are hilariously ill disciplined, often in games and give away stupid pens that halt their momentum

I usually love the Lions, but have not got into this series at all.

Brumbies team looks like the test team, though personally I'd have Bealham over Furlong who barely belongs on tour based on the last two tears, and I'd move Curry to 6 to play him and Morgan in the same back row, but Faz seems determined to play Chessum or Beirne at 6. I know Farrell loves "cohesion" and will either pick the Ireland or Scotland centres, but personally I'd love to see an Aki/Jones axis, would cook.

I'm in the Tuipulotu/Ringrose camp. No way Aki is playing better than Tuipulotu.

Farrell seem determined to give Hansen as many minutes as possible to impress, but he simply isn't. Freeman is a much better choice, and he can cover fullback as well.
Therefore in a 5:3 split, you could still have Jones on the bench.

Morgan should definitely start.

Will Stuart should start ahead of Furlong (who has been unimpressive).

I think our squad is just about good enough to win the series but they'd be proper underdogs if it was against NZ or SA

Impressive physicality from the lions in the first half to essentially put the game to bed.

The second half bored the absolute arse off me

Just arrived in Melbourne for last three matches. Beats meaningless pre-season friendlies for me. Back in time for the first Home game.
Don’t care who plays as long as Aussies beaten . They are happy to win 5-0 at cricket so no sympathy from me .

He picked a big team to do the job but it was no spectacle partly as Aus were sh*ite - tough game on the eyes.

Irish Lions with a couple of Scots and English to make up the numbers. No Welsh representation which is appalling. Ireland are on the decline, finished 3rd in 6N and played mostly poorly throughout. Not good.

Bit nervy for today's game. The Aussies will come out tooled up today and imo, that doesn't look a particularly strong Lions Side to me.

'Orrible feeling the Wallabies will win by 6 to 8 points.

Great win that. Especially after being 18 points down.

Andy Farrell has obviously gone with the players he knows and trusts.

Serious question, which Welsh player/players would you have started?

Not sure about that Aussie lad pretending he’d been shot in that final play. He’s playing rugby for Australia, not football for Preston. 100% the right decision and Schmidt takes it in the right way as usual 😂

He went down in stages. I’m surprised he didn’t ask for make-up for the cameras.

None , sadly . They beat Japan the other week which was a first test win in 18 tests.
Lots of criticism of the large Irish contingent because of a poor six nations.
If you’d asked an Irish man 20 years that 4 wins of five in a six nations would be seen as a disappointment. They would have laughed you out of the room .
They may be on the decline but they and the rest of the team performed some comeback today.

I do think that’s it’s better if each nation has at least 1 player in the side. Not sure there’s much between Morgan and the others, so I’d have picked him.

29-26 to the Lions in the 79th minute. Brilliant.
Bad luck Aussies, tee hee.
