That story is about refugees getting free travel, not illegal immigrants.

So not a benefit for a group then? Makes the immigrants on a bus thing moot then. However there may well be an immigrant driving the bus. Might not be a thing is Swansea but it certainly is where I am.

I'm less concerned about it being a benefit than people thinking stopping immigrants travelling on a bus is protecting women and children. That's just Yaxley-Lennon derived BS .

If you wanted to travel in Wales you can't use a free English bus pass to do that, you would have to pay. [Post edited 24 Jul 19:00]

Well yes and no. Providing your journey starts or finishes in Wales you can travel for free in England. Get on a bus in Chester you can travel to Wrexham for free. Bristol to Chepstow is free ect. Or reverse journeys.

I jokingly presented my bus pass to a bus driver on a bus in Poole last year, he politely refused it, we were only travelling into Bournemouth for the day. I wouldn't use it to travel across the border, couldn't think of anything worse than being stuck on a bus for a longish journey perish the thought.

If I could use one to get on the bus in Swansea and get off in Bristol I would use it. It seems a shame that the nation is dividing public transport in to a nationalist thing

Don't assume everyone in Wales lives a long way from the border.

I don't and I do have family in Chepstow and Bristol. Also, some of my family are originally from Hereford and that route for Abergavenny must be great for those who want to use it. Great for them but it would be even greater if we could jump on a bus straight to Bristol. I suppose we could catch a bus (somehow) to Chepstow and then to Bristol if I was old enough for one of these passes. I know that they have a very good pass for the over 60's in London.

It's all part of the Senedd master plan to keep us over 60's in Wales spending our money. In fairness we get our bus passes at a much younger age than in England who don't get theirs until state pension age.

In London, they get the Oyster pass free at 60 ( I am pretty sure) - that is a lot of people getting access to an excellent transport network
