Thanks for posting this Pat.

This tallies up the rumours that our Ralphie wasn't the best of man managers.

Just watched some bits of this. The presenters are absolutely clueless and Bertrand is a complete bore.

Seems to believe his signing originally for saints was a massive fish coming to a small pond. Not how I remember it at all.

Rings true.

Always thought some of Ralph's team selections and subs were bonkers. Makes sense that he was playing stupid games at the time.

Poll: Who is MOSTLY to blame for this joke season?

This brought back memories of Bournemouth at home midweek in 2019.
We were absolutely shocking , particularly first half and were 2 nil down.
Ralph in his wisdom played Cedric at LB and Danso at RB.

Bertrand was sub and came on at HT , but it was too late and the damage was done.

Everyone was fuming at HT and couldn't understand the team selection .

Now I know why.

Could you imagine something like this (from any player) on Rylan…..

Ready and waiting to mop up those European places......

Maybe Ralph got annoyed with him, for spouting to the media that he wanted to be a football director when he retired. How did that work out....
He was brillant in his first couple season, but by the time Ralph came in he had checked out.

Poll: Has the Ross Stewart deal already paid off as Nick says?

I don't see a problem with Bertrand stating that as an ambition.

He always struck me as somebody who was quite an astute guy.

Why not use your knowledge of the game beyond your playing days?

He was a very, very good LB for us for most of his time at the club, and a tough act for Perraud to replace, though I always thought Romain gave it a right good go.

I guess I can’t argue with that aspect. But he’d never played more than 20 games in a premier league season (only 28 appearances in so many years at Chelsea), pushed out on loan to struggling Aston Villa in 2014. We’d sold Shaw - the best young full back in the country at the time - and replaced him with an underwhelming signing. That’s how I remember it, but was young so probably wrong.

It was after he played every game for us, consistently good performances leading to the switch from loan to permanent contract in January 2015, that he showed he was such a good player; Saints having both England full backs, PFA team of the year full backs, etc.

Or managers who have taken a team to the CL.

Before they came to us, Ralph and Puel (?) are the only ones I believe.

He was a brilliant left back up until he missed out on an England world cup squad . I think that was the year he was in the PFA team of the year. I bet he expected a move to a big club that never came. After that he was solid.

comedy gold when he pointed to his imaginary watch to take the p+ss out of the bournemouth fans,a very good fullback by the way.

This echoes with feedback I got from the training ground that Ralf wasn't popular because he was arrogant and aloof...and it makes sense of some of his bizarre tactics and subs.
Bertrand was great for us but should have been replaced a year or 2 before he left, as he didn't seem to have the legs to make the difference.
