Trump & the other one 12:43 - Jul 29 with 1358 views | Boundy | I'm not fan of Trump but how satisfying was it to watch Starmer squirm during Trump's questioning by GB news ,it made my day to see the toad look yet again like the lost little school boy he is when alongside other leaders.

"I hoped and expected more" Snap, as soon as he got elected I thought here we go, Labour are back with a Leader who can lead and who people can have faith and trust, that disappeared for me after just a few months, is weak performances in the commons said it all for me, I labelled him as a wet lettuce and then he got in power and has proved to be way out of his depth and his cabinet, Reeves, Rayner, Yvette Cooper and especially that clown Miliband.

Starmer is an embarrassment and made to look so out of his depth. Never a fan of Maggie but I how I wish we had someone like her in charge of us right now.

He is out of his depth, he's used to the regulated and process driven legal systems. I'm not sure he knows what he really wants.

And just what does this trade deal entail, enlighten us, Trump has taken his lap dog Starmer and the Uk up the swanie river even a 5% tariff would have been a bad deal for the UK.

Laughable. Brexit was supposed to give UK control of it borders. UK is controlled by lawyers and Judges all to keen to represent the new comers. Before Brexit generally white young single young Christians came over. These jobs are no vacant and been replaced by illegal people from the middle east. Where are the jobs?.

Well that’s just Trump doing his job. Getting advantageous deals for his country and his people. What do our lot do? Give away territory to a tiny island nation that doesn’t even have a claim to it and then lease it back for billions. We are an absolute laughing stock.

It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so utterly depressing. I did feel a great sense of schadenfreude when the gormless Starmer had to sit there in silence in front of the world media whilst the President of the United States pretty much openly campaigned for his biggest rival. But then it reflects so badly on our country that our prime minister is such a weak and spineless individual. Trump has played him like an absolute fiddle though. He won’t have forgotten the Labour Party under Starmer sending hundreds of activists to campaign for Kamala. Embarrassing him on the world stage is just the beginning I feel.

Trump is a confidence trickster and fooled you. Tarrifs are another form of tax. It is paid by the buyer and the money goes to central government like any tax. It is a tax hike. The taxpayer has little or no option to change his buying habits for America stuff as much if the stuff is not produced in the USA because of their high wages and regulations.. USA is running a huge deficit and he started at least to try and cut it. Every year he has to pass a bill allowing the deficit to increase. International economics is a complex business but I would think, everyone, at some point, will have serious economic problems if their interest on loans keeps increasing. Rachel Reeves could not even save a modest £5 Billion without a Labour rebellion including Wales s first Minister. Wales needs immigrants because we do not have the stomach to get Welsh unemployed back to work. International law was pressing UK to hand back the islands. UK only cared about Diego Garcia and cut a deal for 100 years. I like to think UK gets a big rent payment of USA for it's use. They certainly should be. Similarly Ascension island. Exactly, but Starmer keeps bragging about this trade deal when the deal simply benefits the USA the weak fool has given Trump whatever he asked for just so he can go around saying oh look everyone I have made a trade deal with the Americans.
Trump & the other one on 11:05 - Aug 2 with 444 views | johnlangy | Here's a different way of looking at it. Trump stood on those steps and said the UK should cut taxes and cut immigration. In other words, do what I do/did. By doing that he was saying that our tax and immigration laws are wrong and should be changed. What would happen if Keir Starmer, on a visit to America, stood on the steps of the White House and said America's gun laws are wrong and should be changed similar to ours. What would happen is Trump would blow his top there and then and tell him where to go. And he'd be right to do so. It's not the job of KS to tell the President of America how he should govern. And it's not Trump's place to tell the UK either. Those photo opportunities (which is all they're meant to be) are simply for the politicians to spout some fairly meaningless guff and smile to the camera. And the rough stuff should happen behind closed doors. You all make jokes about Starmer standing there smiling. Would you expect him or the leader of any other country in a similar situation to start a blazing row there in front of the cameras like Trump would ? While he had his rictus grin on he was almost certainly thinking 'what is this absolute f'ing clown going to say next'. A lot of people would possibly argue that it's a good thing that Trump is not a 'normal' politician. That it's a good thing to shake things up the way he does. I don't. He should say what he thinks behind closed doors and keep his enormous trap shut in front of the cameras. What would your reaction be if Macron did it ? It would almost certainly be that he should sod off back to France and look after his own country. And the same would apply to any other leader who did the same. So why is it okay for Trump to do it ?

Macron and his government have openly threatened us on a number of occasions. The one that sticks in my mind is threatening to switch off the power to the Channel Islands unless we gave them fishing access. They’ve taken billions off us to deal with the migrant issue yet we see French police and the navy helping the smugglers push off and escort them across. They are not our friends. The USA and her leaders have been a much better friend and ally to us in the last 80 years than France have ever been.

Arrant nonsense. What you have referenced is normal national politics on the International stage and all America has done is use our "relationship" to shape and cajol europe. Posters harp on about fighting for the best deal for Britain but yet expect other nations to roll over for us and deny their nations their best deal. UK exceptionalism is as bad as any other.
