Just reading some of the comments about yesterday’s game and some questioning if we have enough bite in centre mid. With Hayden being released by Newcastle, is he worth a look at? Still only 30, and was one of those standout loanees, who seemingly enjoyed his time here.
With fox being moved on and no news regarding Collabck, I think it would be worth asking the question. I know wages will be the sticking point, but he’s a free agent now and might want something permanent even if that means taking a pay cut. |  | | |  |

I can imagine Hayden's wages would be a problem. I believe Newcastle heavily subsidised them when he was with us.

The monies saved from Colbeck and Fox's wages combined would allow us some wriggle room. Equally, I'd be surprised if we're not saving more in wages on the new blokes compared to what we were shelling out on Ashby, Edwards, Saito, and the Spurs bloke.
I guess QPR have to balance the budget to ensure key positions are filled as opposed to betting it all on Hayes and as he'll have been paid off by NUFC, Hayes might have to adjust his expectations as well. |  |

As someone said on another thread, we dicked him about last year. Yes, he’ll be taking a chunky wage-cut wherever he goes, but I think he’ll get better offers than one from QPR.
Not sure that we’re that attractive an option for him, even if he did really enjoy that loan spell. |  | | |

Much as he is a great player, I’m not convinced that midfield is the priority right now given limited resources and glaring gaps in full back position and a deficiency of strikers - combined with the fact that Veran is our best asset currently. |  | | |

Personally would give a wide berth.
My pompey supporting friend said Dozzell performed more consistently than Hayden, so perhaps not.
Anyhow, he won't come here. We said we were signing him and then at the last moment we chose a last minute loan for Ashby, and it was too late in the window for Hayden to secure any other work until the January window.
He may well have attitude against our club. Totally understand why. We shafted the poor chap !!! [Post edited 3 Aug 18:45]
