What an excellent captain and central defender he is.

We let Klarer go for £400k when he'd have been the ideal replacement for Jack Stephens. Klarer will be worth a lot more than that in the Premier League. He's 24 and still improving.

To be fair to them, it was before they took over. He was here 2016-2020 and always looked a great prospect. Our transfer strategy has been poor for several years.

Aaron Ramsdale saved a penalty for Newcastle tonight on his debut in a 2-2 draw with Espanyol. Matt Targett also scored for the Mags... talking of ex-Saints like.

We're great at providing good players for other clubs.

I’m glad we didn’t sign Jack Clarke. He was shocking last night.

Ipswich didn’t look the side they were the season before last, but they got a point and it’s early days.

Ipswich did what Ipswich do and grabbed a late goal
They’re the team to beat this season

I am not convinced on that performance, although it is early days.

1 shot on target and that was a penalty.
A very fortunate penalty and a Birmingham goal that should have stood.

I thought the Ipswich defence looked very shaky.

Overall it was an average game at best. Very niggly and ref lost control.

No strength on or off the ball. Combine that with an off day in dribbling - his supposedly exceptional attribute - and you have a 10 man team.

Osayi Samuel, another player we were once linked with, was quite impressive. Furthermore, Furuhashi was great, with constant clever movement upfront.

Ipswich only really had a few quality touches, mainly from Szmodics in the first half - in form he could be “too good” for this league.

Ultimately, a couple years ago Ipswich were riding the same momentum train Birmingham are on currently. They had the lucky deflections from shots on their side, and, most important, the belief in winning. They don’t have that anymore. Some of their defenders looks atrocious: constantly allowing the ball to bounce, no spatial awareness whatsoever.

Dirk has a boner over Birmingham. We’ll finish above them and Ipswich and win the league. then say to the premier league that we’d like to defend our title so stuff your bollox league up your arse.

He’s a streak of piss.

He promises a lot but rarely delivers.

You cannot reason a person out of something they were not reasoned into.

I personally feel Ipswich are far more likely to struggle this season than most think. The season they went up was one of those fluke and unexpected type seasons. No one expected them to be there, but they over performed as they had momentum.

This season they have no momentum, nothing to prove kind of thing. I think it will be a hard slog for them to do it again this time around.
