Back on the horse – Preview on 07:31 - Aug 9 with 2529 views | GaryBannister86 | Brilliant to read before setting off on a Saturday morning, thanks Clive. I very much hope we never have to find out about how tolerant the fans will be if this all goes wrong, but I fear we will. That is for another day - COYRS.
Back on the horse – Preview on 07:40 - Aug 9 with 2478 views | dutch | Wonderfully wise and sensibly jaded writing. We go again, though still feel war weary from the accumulative strain of the last few seasons. The amazing support has been the only real positive and we have to try and maintain that whatever the results, despite lacking in any real pre-season optimism. But then we are QPR so you never know. Come on you super...
Back on the horse – Preview on 08:07 - Aug 9 with 2336 views | stevec | If we wanted positive propaganda we’d buy the match day programme which I haven’t this entire Century and I doubt many others have either. Keep telling it like it is.
Back on the horse – Preview on 08:17 - Aug 9 with 2279 views | dmm | Thanks Clive. Your thoughts and feelings will be shared by most I think. What will happen today is anyone's guess. The match day squad and starting 11 may well look different come September but while I want to reserve judgement on the coming season until 10 games in, another lower mid table finish seems highly likely and almost inevitable.
Back on the horse – Preview on 08:17 - Aug 9 with 2279 views | LeedsR | Another great preview. As I was reading it, I was just thinking that with all the signings we’ve made so far, how I longed for the hard b@st@rd signings that Warnock made that formed the spine of his Championship winning side. Kenny, Hill and Derry (& Helgusson although I don’t think he was a Warnock signing) was an absolutely no-nonsense spine of a team from which you could hang the likes of Taraabt to work his magic. And look what happened. A hard b@st@rd spine is what we’re crying out for. We’ve got the ornaments, we just need a bl**dy tree!! (Although I must confess, at the time, I was really skeptical of the signings of Kenny, Hill and Derry! I thought Warnock had just brought in his mates from years gone by for a final pay-off, and apart from maybe Kenny, were cloggers who were past it!! What the hell do I know?!?!)

Cheers Clive, excellent preview. Best of luck to all at the match. What we wouldn't give for a 'routine' 2-0 win? When is the last time we had one of those?
Back on the horse – Preview on 10:11 - Aug 9 with 1736 views | paddyhdog | Brilliant writing. Still the best thing about supporting QPR, thanks Clive Am so nervous about today. My heart has a hunch we could come out flying and our pacy attackers tear them one. My head then reminds me to look at the squad list, and the injuries, and I fear we could have another opening day shocker. Your point about the spine so true. We're without Nardi, Jimmy, Cook, Varane, Frey. This new coach might need to be a genuine miracle worker.
Back on the horse – Preview on 11:12 - Aug 9 with 1442 views | Paddyhoops | Heading into the unknown once again . Seen the odd highlight in pre season but apart from that not a lot . New signings like Poku look decent but full backs are all a bit unknown and hopefully won’t be our Achilles heel this season . Otherwise really looking forward to today . Those Tuesday night midwinter fixtures maybe not so much . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Back on the horse – Preview on 12:16 - Aug 9 with 1185 views | UtterlyButters | Excellent preview. I think there's reasons to be optimistic but your line on struggling at full-back, striker and not being able to progress the ball through CM last season and not really addressing it this year really hit the nail on the head for me. All that said, Preston look pretty shaky. Reading about their churn of average championship free agents made me really appreciate how far we have came since Ainsworth. I'm really excited to see Dembele, Poku and Burrell. Maybe even Celar could show some of the quality he showed in his last two games. If we bring in an experienced CM who can progress the ball (Hayden?) and an experienced LB (Lowe?) I think we actually have a pretty decent squad. Really excited for today and the wider season. We'll probably come 16th again but I'm all in of following how we get there. You R'sssss

Back on the horse – Preview on 14:26 - Aug 9 with 766 views | EastR | A fair and independent summation Clive. What rankles most is that from all of the word salads we hear a out strategy, process and needing to gain competitive advantage, it doesn't stack up against what's actually happening, or not happening. It's not even open to debate that this squad is lacking in at least 3 key positions- LB, CM and a striker. Add to that we're going into the first game with Dunne, Varane and JCS all unavailable that's half a dozen positions we're short in. When in June the Football Fixtures Gods give you a run of games that you must capitalise on to not be ready for that just smacks of arrogance, incompetence or both. We're also hearing a lot about collective responsibility and accountability. Let's see how that pans out 10 games in if things haven't gone to plan. I'll be very happy to be proven wrong about all of that if it doesn't come about because the team will be doing well and be competitive, and as fans that's what we all want to see.
