Loved him in Big Deal which was often filmed around West London. He basically played a lovable gambling addict, similar type of character to our Stan.

RIP Ray Brooks.

We could have done with Mr Benn picking up a home kit and being sent to Loftus Road as a striker….

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Remember both those roles

Mr Benn was on for decades afterwards and was on consistently for couple of decades after.

And likewise with Fawlty Towers and Porridge, there was only 12 episodes ever made.

RIP Ray

20 episode of Porridge plus 1 Xmas special. Then there was 6 episodes of Going Straight where Barker played the same character at home, out of prison.

Fawlty Towers was 12 though, as was The Young Ones, Phoenix Nights, both classics IMO. Also, the lesser known but underrated Early Doors. Craig Cash, Mark Benton, James McAvoy, Phil Mealey & Maxine Peake.

Any others that only had 12 episodes ?

Always found Ray a watchable actor, great in a Dr Who film with Peter Cushing.

Rest In Peace Ray Brooks.

We had a mate who gave up on Brentford to support West Ham - he was known as Mr Benn.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Having missed it first time round back in the mid 80's , i've literally just finished watching all 30 episodes of 'Big Deal' over the course of the last month. Watched an episode every night tucked up in bed like Grand Pa Joe.

Something very innocent , Pure and addictive about the characters and most of all, Robby Box.

Ray's performances , and indeed of that golden era cast and long since mutated locations showcased in that time stamp of London, gave me a wholesome ready brek glow , tinged with melancholy and lament. All Good.

See ya down the spieler Robby, mines half a double diamond.

RIP

I remember they filmed a lot of it in the flats off Old Oak Road.
