I’ll start with ‘La Chimera’. I’m yet to find a Josh O’Connor film I don’t like.

I really loved 'La Chimera', a truly outstanding film and have enjoyed Alice Rorwacher's other work too. She directed the last series of 'My Brilliant Friend' and her sister, Alba, starred in it. A wonderful 4 series box set for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, based on the Elena Ferrante novels.

Other Italian films I've watched in the last few months and loved are ' Eight Mountains' and 'Vermiglio'.

I don't get to the cinema as often as I used to, but I did enjoy Perfect Days (Wim Wenders). You probably have to be in the right mood for it though.

If was over the last two decades, there can be only one choice.

Its a true fly on the wall story in real time of a small back street player in its particular industry being taken over by billionaires with the morals of alleycats and the nouse of the uninformed, somehow succeeding to reach the promised land because of a maverick employee and a maverick manager.

Has to be the choice......

3 off the top of my head -

Three Billboards (outside Missouri…..)
Jojo Rabbit
CODA (Child Of Deaf Adults)

But there’s been a real downturn since Covid IMO, too many remakes, prequels, etc.

Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood

The other two movies I considered:

Hereditary
Flow
(very different movies!)

'Moonlight' gets my vote.

Gorgeous film.

I was going to say Calvary but that was 2014. So, Oppenheimer is up there with the best for me.

Left the pictures pretty satisfied after Blade Runner 2049 and it's one of those films I can start watching at any point if I flick over and its on.

For me it has to be The Zone of Interest. A cold-eyed look at how utterly ordinary people with everyday preoccupations can create and live in a world of evil. Unforgettable.

Absolutely loved La Chimera too... beautifully filmed, almost fairy tale like and magical.

Past Lives has to be up there for me.... such a moving film. Contemplation of growing old, past relationships and missed opportunity....

On the complete reverse of both of those above, I absolutely love Mad Max - Fury Road.
read the book about making the film, the trials, tribulations of the two main actors not getting on, George Millar's absolute insistence for not using CGI and 9 months of filming in Namibia after Australia's weather proved too difficult. An absolute thunderous joy ride of amazing visuals and spectacle....

My long term memory is shot to pieces so I'm gonna say that film where the fat dancer from Take That is played by a Chimp...

The film that really stood out for me in recent times, because it is fairly extraordinary, is Poor Things.

Parasite - I think that film is genius, or Mad Max Fury Road - which is the best 'cinema' film I've seen in the last 10 years by a long way.

Honourable mention for Uncut Gems & Train to Busan (the best zombie film ever made)

ask Beavis I get nothing Butthead

So many could be here.

Inside Out is brilliant and a life changing movie. I'm a massive Villeneuve fan so any from BladeRunner 2049, the Dunes, Sicario, or Arrival.

Jordan Peele's Get Out and Us are fabulous, I'll always find time to watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

It's not the best, but my favourite is Room. Brie Larson is outstanding, Joseph Tremblay superb. Brilliantly written and shot, it's fabulous.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end
