I'm just so sick and tired of QPR's disdain for cup football, I really am.
I'm heartily sick and tired of QPR's complete lack of any pride whatsoever.
London derbies, there's another area where the club couldn't give an absolute toss about.
No pride, at all.
I am that close, to just calling time on watching this utter shit show year in, year out.
I mean, we take just shy of 1000 fans down to Plymouth on a Tuesday night, and the club does that to them.
Only 2 games into a new season.
Can anybody see Alec Stock, Gordon Jago, Dave Sexton, Terry Venables, Jim Smith, take a squad like that to a competitive game?

Unless it was an agreed award with the DS/Furs for winning the PL Cup, it made little sense not to include more senior players in a winnable cup game.
Surely a blend of youth & experience, giving some 45-60 mins before sitting on the bench at Watford would have provided a better competitive environment for the youngsters, increased our chances of winning, then given them another shot in the next round.
Not just handing out 7 precious debuts for the sake of it, give it to those who had actually earned it. Win the game, build a sense of achievement - nah just send them out to fend for themselves attack vs defend. Bizarre. [Post edited 13 Aug 21:57]

I don't object to the kids being tried out to see if they can cut it competitively but if you're going to do that lay on free transport, food and drinks for fans attending, otherwise it is taking the p*ss! |  |

Very fair and informative report but this new manager specialises in cup runs and lots of us were expecting this to start last night .
Instead its worse than business as usual for QPR fans we literally threw this game away before the kick off and the same manager appears delighted we are out its a bit strange like most posters agree.

We’ve started the season with a squad glaringly lacking in a few key areas, and a treatment room bursting at the seams.
On Sat we put out a patchwork team (and gave up points to a bottom six rival). There were half a dozen positions-players that wouldn’t have been our strongest 11 all things being equal.
Out injured or not fit we had Dunne, JCS, Varane, take your pick up front from Frey and Burrell. Before a ball was even kicked it was glaringly obvious the squad was still light in key positions - LB, CM and a centre forward.
Our cover on the bench was made up of players that we might expect to see in and around the first team but as back up (Burrell excepted), and in a cup game week for them to make an appearance for rotation.
Sure enough in come Nardi, Bennie, Kolli, Vale, Burrell and Sutton.
That’s arguably a reasonable core of a weakened side for a cup outing, but it needs to be supplemented with 4 or 5 remaining of your strongest squad, who let’s face it and we keep being reminded, are gonna have to put in a 3-game week shift. Then give the rest some exposure.
Its not a great look, and it gives all of the corporate speak more than a whiff of the BS that’s annoying the fan base of late.
If part of the strategy is to get the youngsters exposure (which is an idea we can all get on board with), the approach should have been better considered than the extreme we saw last night. They had their night out, are they all going to wait now another 12 months for our next Carabao cup outing?
(edit: obviously the Kone signing, very good piece of business, addresses the CF situation. But just when we’re allowed nice things the Larkeche news comes out to temper that) | |

Great article and well done on bringing some balance to the discussion. I do find it embarrassing that our cup record is so bad and also that we disregard it so badly that we would be better off opting out of it.
I also have to slightly criticise the manager here as it’s been laid out above that we needed perhaps 2 senior players to help babysit this one through at a minimum. If we had done that we would have taken the win - got a good feeling going into next week, our manager would have his first win and our kids would have learnt something
Now we are in a position of lose the next 3-4 games and manager is already under pressure. Sad but true
Anyway let’s move onto next week and try and hope to secure another draw and hopefully a third quartile finish in this division ‘for the plan’. Jeez my Sunday morning team had more ambition…. |  |
