"Joshua Quarshie was having one of those games where he could do nothing right, his distribution was terrible "

The trouble is he had one of those games against Wrexham too.

He's, at best, L2 level.

We have 4 Championship level CBs so why has Nigel played every minute of both league games?

I think it was a good point. Not many will get anything at Portman Road this season so it was a decent result.
There were as many questions as answers though but we must remember it's game 2 of the season. We should also remember that the window is open. In a few weeks we may have a different team so anything we get now could be bonus points!
Bazunu was decent and Frazer put in a good shift and showed some quality.
Robinson looks a player but elsewhere it was all pretty much hit and miss.

We looked disorganised at the back, and relatively experienced players seems to panic and rush clearances. Jack was generally good but seems he cannot get through a game without making a potentially calamitous error.
Quarshie was poor but he's young, he's moved to a new country, it's his second league game and he's trying to impress. Let's at least give him time to settle in and feel more comfortable before we decide he's not up to it.

By the end my overriding emotion was relief because we offered little going forwards and it was Ipswich who were pushing hard for a second goal.
On reflection I'm also a bit disappointed as for the bookies favourites, Ipswich weren't great and with the quality we have I thought we could have pushed on for the win.
We really need to sort out both ends of the pitch though.

Bazs distribution was good but hes a poor shot stopper. He got lucky when they hit the post from an acute angle. He had his bearings all wrong.

Our corners were terrible, not one beat the first man.

If i was Wood, i would be questioning why these nobodies are getting in, in front of me.

I agree with you about the corners, but I think that was more tactical, we didn't have the height to win the ball direct at a set piece corner, the idea was to try and get it flicked on or through the crowd

Our corners have been awful for ages certainly since JWP left
When did we last score from one?

You could also say that about Quarshies long throws, as they have not achieved anything. They've never worked since Rory Delap's glory days!

Not sure Delaps did either but anything’s better than Salisus “long” throws

At the start of the day, I would have taken a point away to Ipswich.

I agree with many others on the use of three CB's, and would prefer to go with a straight 4-4-2. Unfortunately, all three had a poor game. Their goal was a comedy of errors, but after the goal I thought we did well in first half and got the deserved equaliser.

I still like the look of Quashie. He has pace and an aerial presence we need at the back. We need to give him a bit of time, he is young and fitting into a new team. JS cant defend high balls into the box and often resorts to shirt pulling when beaten for pace.

Armstrong up front, didn't work again, although he did work hard. I have watched highlights and it was questionable whether Armstrong should have had a penalty.

Based on the 2 Ipswich games so far, I don't see them finishing in top 2. Delap and Hutchinson will be a big loss, but they have recouped good fees for them, so like Saints, it depends on whether they spend well and get good replacements.

Finally, thanks to Hedgeend61 for ticket.
