The promoted sides 22:32 - Aug 18 with 1171 viewsSouthamptonfan

It's quite interesting that Sunderland and Leeds, both promoted clubs, both won. Sunderland have spent big. Leeds have a manager who will have learnt from the last time he managed and failed in the PL. They are also huge clubs roared on by big crowds. Burnley look like they will come straight back down. It's early days, and all 3 might yet all go down, but is there some learning there if we go back up?

10 points by Christmas usually an indicator of the survivors. 3 points each is a big step to get there, so winning the first game is a major milestone.

They also both had 2 of the weakest and most beatable teams at home.

Early days.

I have always advocated, that it's best to avoid promoted clubs early in the season (Aug/Sept). These teams always raise their game at the start. Same applied to Wrexham, but we got through it (just !).

Let's see what it's like towards end of year, on a dark winter night in the rain and when suspensions kick in. They will probably also be affected by Africa Cup of Nations in Dec (Potentially 1 month).

I think Leeds will survive and Sunderland have spent a lot (not sure how good ?). As for Burnley, they will be back down again.

I like Farke, but I am not convinced of his Premiership credentials. Bookies have him first to go, which is a tell tale sign.

Very early days but let’s be brutally honest, not many clubs ‘ever’ will perform as poorly as we did last season.

Keep hearing diatribe about the ‘gulf’ between the Championship / PL and most of our Noddies were gleefully suggesting the newly promoted sides would go straight back down this year, but it’s not a dead certainty. Same as Parsons spouting about the massive financial chasm almost like one has never existed in all the years of PL football.

Promoted sides going straight back down is not a given. We just excelled at being cr*p last season.

It's less of a racing certainty that the promoted sides will be relegated this year because there are several other weak sides in the PL, which wasn't really the case last year. Wolves, Brentford and West Ham could all "challenge" for the relegation spots. Everton may suffer the new stadium curse. But it's still likely that all 3 promoted sides will be in and around the bottom 3 at the end of the season.

My realistic dream bottom 3 would be Brentford, Bournemouth and Everton

Yeah I’d go along with that .

Brentford poxy club, Bournemouth will always be a little club by the seaside, Everton still never forgiven them for Highbury 1984.
