It wasn't his best game at Ipswich on Sunday, but truth was for an hour he was exposed by Welington in front of him.

He was wrong footed by a poor pass from Welington at the start of the chaotic Ipswich goal and struggled to deal with attacks on the break.

His passing was woeful at times and in truth he needed someone talking him through it, telling him to get back to basics shorten up his passing and playing it safe when he was pressed.

No one can deny that, but there were some plus points, given his young age he didn't hide, he still kept playing the ball that should be played, perhaps as I have said he should have played a shorter simpler ball at times, but he didn't lose confidence and that will bode well for the future.

Do we want to go up or do we just want to produce young players for the big boys? If we want to go up Quarshie should be back up and no more .

It’s a bit like playing Baz in the premiership,it was massively detrimental to the team and we got relegated. Now maybe in a few years time they might sell Baz for 30mill and think job done. However relegation cost 3 times more.

Quarshie is two games in to his Southampton career and is learning, you are perhaps right he should be back up, but he was not the worst player in the back three in the opening game, he needs someone talking him through games.

Throwing Bazunu into the Premier League was not a good idea, not sure he was the biggest factor in relegation, look at the defence in front of him it was awful, Caletta Car, Lyanco, Perraud were the worst of the bunch but the likes of Salisu & at times the young Bella Kotchap all were terrible and that was just the defence

I like Quarshie, his distribution was poor on Saturday but with the right training that will improve.
I love his enthusiasm,he is very physically strong and those throw ins are impressive.

I am with you Grumpy. Stick with him. He's work in progress but shows a good attitude and has strengths the other CB's don't have (e.g. pace, aeriel presence etc).

I agree he does have a decent throw, which adds another dimension to our game. However, I do miss Salisu cleaning the ball for 90 seconds, taking a big run up and launching it 15 yards at best :)

I question why we even signed Quarshie.
He has made plenty of (mostly unforced) errors and could pass better and react a bit more quickly, so is definitely a work in progress.

Is he a direct replacement for Bednarek ? (we are already top heavy in CBs)
Or just another signing for his potential ?

Unless we are going to lose a couple more CBs this window, I can't see the point of signing him. (Bella-Kotchap needs to go asap !!)

I would rather we used Sanda and got him up to speed. At the end of last season he had a couple of cameos, looked eager, comfortable on the ball and was actually trying to organise the back line - which is something that has been missing from our defence since the days of Fonte and VVD.

Do Quarshie and Wellington speak English? Wood is proven at this level , how can he not be starting.

He made mistakes at the weekend, looks a bit dodgy, but what's new? We insist on bringing in inexperienced young players who have never played in this league before, so that's what you get. Same with Downes. They arn't proven, and have so.much to learn and might not ever learn.

Having said that, he is a big tall presence in the back line, and has done some good things amongst the mistakes. His throws could be useful and he's tall so has won some headers etc.

I think Quarshie looks a really poor buy. Watching the Wrexham game, he was terrible in possession and I was nervous every time he touched the ball.
I’m not sure giving him time will achieve anything. This is what you get with data driven signings.

But surely data would include the following:-

- the ability to control a football
- the ability to pass the ball 3 yards to a colleague wearing the same colour kit

If not, it is time to change what the clown Ankersen so ridiculously refers to as “reference points”….

Quarshie was no worse than THB.
We don't have a decent ctr back at the club that's why WS has to play 3 of them.
