What in gods name is going on with him. Was quite excited when we signed him. Sounded like a really good prospect. But he can't get into this dreadful team! Still not fit? Surely not. Has to start Saturday.

The fitness team has decreed him too fit for this stage in the season. They’re fattening him up through august, ready to hit the ground (while) running in September.

Joking aside, I cannot understand why Kone hasn’t started either of he games he could have played. Surely he would have had a full pre-season with Wycombe and I assume he played in their first two games of the season? Maybe in the eyes of the fabled Ben Williams he is actually ‘over-cooked’? This concept might be the right strategy in the world of cycling but it certainly isn’t in football.

I think you're on to something there DW.

As I understand it, cyclists start the grand tours a little under-cooked and peddling to full fitness is factored into the first few days. That and vast consumption of performance enhancing narcotics of questionable legality.

I always thought PST was to get the players to the required fitness level and to simply keep them ticking over thereafter. In the three-game-per-week cycle, where you need to factor in rest, it would seem a challenge to then also have to factor in getting fit as well, while giving the rest of the field a several point head start and resulting effects on morale.

Before getting angry about things you’ve assumed, why not check them out first?

Kone wasn’t in the squad for Wycombe’s first game and played 30 mins in the second.

If he's got anything about him he'll be banging down the managers door demanding a start.

Unless Kone was injured I see no reason why he should not have started....he is a professional footballer at the start of the season. How long does it take to get fit ffs!!

Yet another very strange decision by 'somebody' at the Club.

As for Harvey Vale....another strange decision not giving him more game time. If he is not good enough then why did we sign him.

Yep he needs to get a start, now Hayden has signed slot Vale in either left or right midfield. Morgan needs to step out for a bit and re-build his confidence.

Considering the state of our midfield I'm surprised this lad hasn't had a fair crack. Time to ditch Operation Oompa-Loompa and give Vale a run.
