Under SR our transfer record has been totally embarrassing

We’ve got shot of Henrik Kraft, Solak has taken over as Chairman, bought in Johannesburg Spors who has a good track record and sacked Darren Mowbray but nothing has changed

So who/where is the problem, because we’re making the same mistakes over and over

Benefit of the doubt, see how things fair this year, but if it continues down the road of Saints FC Radio or more play zones over the core activity then support will start walking.

This is the first transfer window that Johannes Spors has been in charge, what has gone on before cannot be changed now, we can whinge on about Sport Republic all we like, conveniently forgetting of course that a year ago we signed Matteus Fernandes and Arron Ramsdale.

Give Spors a chance to show that things have changed and more importantly give his signings the chance to show they are up to the task.

We have essentially signed 3 players this summer.

Damion Downs has played just 75 minutes in the Championship yet some are writing him off, likewise Quarshie has played two full games and was axed after the game at Ipswich, but he is young and will get better, Mads Roerslev has experience and came on after Stoke had scored both their goals.

If every player was judged on his first two games and never played again there would be a lot of club legends that we would have lost out on a lot of great players.

This is a decent Championship quality squad, it lacks in key areas that need to be addressed and now that needs doing as we have trimmed the squad ready for the last week of the transfer window,

I am sick to death of people going on about what has happened and cannot be changed, Sport Republic cannot be accused of not spending money on players, there are mitigating circumstances, the departure of Jason Wilcox for instance. things have changed with the arrival of Johannes Spors now in charge .

Mistakes have been made in the past few years, no one can deny that, but no one can change it either, we have to move forward, save the transfer moaning till the window is shut, in fact save it for a couple of months when we we will get a better picture of how the team is doing, then we can either start moaning or otherwise.

The fans have been brilliant these last few seasons, we have filled St Mary's, filled away sections and made a lot of noise in support of the team, the majority of fans I speak to at games home and away don't seem to reflect what I read on social media including this website at times.

I am not saying that fans shouldn't have a good moan, but give the new manager, new Director of football and the team a chance to show what they can do and time to do it, the season has a long way to go yet.

I, and many others are sick to death that we keep signing players like Downes and Quashie, players that again at the very least need to time to "get better". Just explain to me why we don't just buy a proven striker for this level like Sargent at Norwich and therefore stop repeating "the mistakes" from the past you talk about. Quashie has been bought and has been dropped already. Same with Downes. Anyone can see he will just be another Mara. Same with the defenders, you said yourself about Conor Coady, so why arn't they doing it?

They might get better, but why not just bring in players that don't need to "get better"? Did Rickie Lambert need time to "get better" or did we not just buy a proven striker who knew where the net was? Why keep buying players like Bazunu and this season again Downs and Quashie when you could buy Sargent, the Stoke keeper etc? Why keep doing it, the same mistakes, young, inexperienced players over and over again. I am not sure why after 2 relegations in 3 years, so many mistakes with recruitment, and already two players bought didn't start on Saturday! Why would you have any confidence in that?

Firstly it is easy to explain why we havent bought a proven striker at Championship level, it is because we have 4 on the books at present in Armstrong, Archer, Brereton Dias & Stewart.

Perhaps if we shift one or two of them we would go for Sargent.

We have signed 3 players this window and the last one is an experienced at both Premier League & Championship level 26 year old International, so we haven't kept on making the same mistakes.

Your views may well be proved right, but if you have the gift to spot that Downs is that bad (or for that matter if he was good) after seeing him for just 2 half games, less than 90 mins football, then assuming that you are not already a Head of recruitment for a Championship football club, you should contact Saints immediately as we clearly haven't got anyone with that know how

We have to ask why some of these players fail with us where they have succeeded elsewhere, we bought some good experienced players last summer, most still at the club yet the manager wouldn't play them, or when he did play them in their right positions and to their strengths.

Where in my post did I moan about Spors, Damian Downs or Quarshie?

If anything, the only player I have commented on over the last 12 months would be a certain defender, and tbh, if was not a dig at them directly, but the needless new contract that was certainly not high priority.

I keep seeing this pointless discussion about our "strikers". We have too many strikers, but we don't have a centre forward. Of the 4 strikers you mention, Stewart is the only one that is a proper centre forward and he obviously isn't trusted by WS at the moment for whatever reason. Downs isn't up to the job yet, so we have no centre forward.

It's not really a gift. To me, signing a young player that has never played in the English leagues before, is a huge risk. This lot have done it time and time again, mostly failing, and they are still doing it. And I do think if I was head of recruitment and I bought in Sargent, Coady and a few other experienced players, they would be in the team and not dropped after 2 games. We need a striker. We can't score, and they just don't address it.

We don't buy players like Ruckie Lambert, Fonte anymore. They were good players and didn't need time to develop and the rest of it. We waste so much money. The Stoke keeper was 2 million, Bazunu what was he 12 million? Why??? Same with many of the others. There are proven players, but it's because they want to be clever, turn water into wine, make a profit but 2 relegations in 3 years, and again having to clear out the "dross" again, tells you all you need to know.

In the season we signed Rickie Lambert, we also signed a lot of journeyman League One players and we failed to get into the play off spots even if we hadn't had a points deduction.

In the summer of 2010 we made only 4 signings, the only one of any significant outlay was 17 year old Jack Stephens at £150,000.

When we returned to the premier League in 2012/13 our transfer business was not exactly great the young Jay Rodriguez was much maligned on this board in that season, and we forget Mayuka & Forren to name just two, in any transfer windows there are failures and successes, the trick has always been to make a profit in each transfer window, buy players young and move them on.

We bu people like Quarsie because we also have experienced player in the defence such as THB, Stephens, Taylor, Sugawara, Manning even Edwards, you have to buy for the future even at times we are struggling to buy for the prsent

As you can see from what I write on here, I am not happy clapping, I am not completely happy with the situation, there are areas that need dealing with

"This is the first transfer window that Johannes Spors has been in charge"

And just when we thought things couldn't get any worse, it's been the worst yet.

The last organisation Johannes Spors was Sports Director at went bust.
"777 Partners have been sued by multiple organizations for unpaid debts and contract breaches with lawsuits describing their financial practices as a "house of cards"."

Everton certainly dodged a bullet.
