If we won it by having a better team that we'd have had without the cheating (the situation with Rangers for quite a few years) then it wouldn't be right to claim it in my view.
You'd normally expect honours to be stripped in this situation. Happened to Melbourne Storm in the NRL here when they were caught breaching the salary cap. Had two premierships taken off them. Another club had to play an entire season for no points after they got caught (and also were demoted from first place to last the season before). Lance Armstrong was stripped of his tour de France wins. Athletes lose gold medals years after the event.
Fans shouldn't get to "accept". If you've cheated to win things, you should lose those titles. Should have happened to Rangers and should happen to City if guilty. |

Rangers were liquidated and expelled from the league due to years of corruption and deliberate financial cheating. It wasn't just unfortunate financial problems that struck some of those other clubs. They never paid their debts, just allowed the old club to die to avoid them.
Somehow Rangers are still also claiming the trophies they cheated to win, so sympathy is in short supply. |

Indeed. They all changed their twitter pictures to the same "55" thing and constantly referenced it. All that did was show how insecure they are about the club's status. I remember asking some of them them why they didn't feel the need to do it after 54 (which was also a record at the time of course).
But yes, how on earth they got found guilty of what they did over many years and did not have a single honour stripped. Corruption, pure and simple. Also very interesting how the number of penalties they get has dropped off a cliff since VAR arrived in Scotland. | | | |
