Our goalkeeper situation seems fine at the moment.

I see Dorking are putting one of their supporters in goal tomorrow…he’s 54 ..has some experience from many yrs ago.

Perhaps we should have this as a plan B just in case…any takers?

Could always put my name forward in a desperate situation
Not getting any younger and feel with new time limit on how long a keeper has to get rid of the ball whilst still capable of a "belly- flop" dive might run out of time trying to get myself up off the floor

Their manager (and he is also Chairman) is such a character. He doesn't half manage to get their club some publicity. Whether he ever plays this keeper we will see. Remember him and his team at the Norton Grange two seasons ago when they visited Dale - he was a bit loud to say the least but the bar takings were good.

They have now signed a keeper from Barnet so he won't be playing barring an injury.

The fan keeper has no.54 on his shirt. The National League don’t allow players to have numbers past 40 (Henderson got lucky) if there are other numbers still available. It wasn’t ever going to be an actual thing, but decent marketing.

That’s a shame…perhaps he will put him on the bench and have him warming up….a bit like the Benson and Hedges pair from Mike Bassett England manager

We had local bricklayer Neil Dunford in goal for us many years ago.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Saved a penalty I seem to remember, against Doncaster I think, was it taken 3 times?

No.

He did save a penalty against Doncaster in October 1994, but Dale had a penalty saved three times v Doncaster four years earlier.

Thanks for putting me right on that, with the shocking state of my memory getting the right team counts as a victory these days

That was against an excellent Donny team that I think went on to get promoted. From memory the pen was missed by Goodison twice then O' Shaughnessy. Years later think Whitehall missed a retaken pen by skying it over the Sandy.

Doncaster didn't go up.

In fact, they remained in the division until 1997/98, when they were relegated to the Conference, staying there until 2003.

Fair enough. Remember them being a great team that season though, maybe top when we played them. The season they went down was I imagine the same year as the 9 man comeback win when Gouck scored the winner.

They were certainly near the top but faded as the season went on.
