Are the bars going to be open in the away end on Sunday??? 13:40 - Sep 9 with 2679 viewsPatfromPoole

Skates fans bleating on about having to be at Fratton by 8.30am and supposedly being in the ground by around 10.00am (though I gather some coaches are doing pick-ups in Winch, so they will presumably arrive later).

This makes me think the same is likely to happen to us when we go to Fratton. And the "facilities" in their away end are pretty appalling.

So we won't have anything to get in the drinks department to entertain ourselves.

We wouldn't open up the bars inside our away end on Sunday for them, would we????!!!!???

Poll: Should Dibling play at Ipswich on Sunday if he is available for selection?

I think their away end has been rebuilt so may well have a bar/running water/electricity

We will open the bars in the away end because the club won't turn down revenue like that to a captive audience, that would be dumb in the extreme.

I wouldn't purchase a thing at their sh(thole even if they were open because every penny you put in to their bar helps them as a club and pays the wages of some filthy little skate c*nt who should be left in poverty

I would personally just sell alcohol-free lager to them.

At £10 a pint.

I think they are going to supplement the bars inside the ground with bars and food stalls outside, I think the plan is the same when we travel to Fratton park

I would be willing to wager that the toilets in the away end will get vandalised on Sunday, at which point the Hampshire plod will decide that it would not be appropriate for a hospitable welcome to be reciprocated to us (in terms of availability of alcohol etc) for the game at Fratton.

They just can't be trusted to behave when it involves visiting their despised neighbours, sadly.

The police are well aware of which set of fans have caused the most damage and trouble over the last 50 years of this fixture being played

They have just been told to get to Fratton by 7:30 for security checks (crazy) so will be the same for us. Guess they will hold them up somewhere for all 3 pick-up points to join up. Security checks at the ground will take time
Still keeping the route to the ground secret. My guess is over the Itchin Bridge as it's open and easy to control

Thought it was going to be via the M271? Given the last pick up is Winchester surely down the M3 and in via the M271 is the most obvious, plus they can control traffic and lights on town quay/platform road and bring them in the back easily.

If they come from the itchen bridge it means shutting off a lot more of the city and is less direct meaning more chance of issues.

They will want to take the fastest least congested route available even if it’s not the most obvious direct route.
I suspect the road closures that side of the ground aid an approach from the Avenue onto Kingsway and onto chapel road. Straight in and out with outriders blocking junctions to keep them moving.

Isn't there roadworks on the avenue still?

I’d have thought coming over the Itchen bridge and then along Marine parade then into chapel road would be the most direct route and also the least amount of Saints fans about at 9:30 in the morning , Coming of the motorway at junction 8.

Any other way and there’d be too many saints fans about I’d have thought.

Not sure which way they came in at the last bubble but changing the location from the Northam to the Chapel and the opening of the Northam fazone would rule out coming down Britannia road .

My thoughts, but is clear with so many options it stops a large amount of Saints fans gathering to welcome them!!

And they forecast a day of rain. The authorities can't believe their luck.
