A Couple of Things From Yesterday 07:59 - Sep 14 with 2537 views | DWQPR | One positive one not. During the Coventry match the number of times one of our players in space collecting a high ball just headed it aimlessly without any thought, with Verane being the main culprit. Yesterday it wa as delight to see players literally passing their headers to each other even under pressure from an opposing player. This made such a difference in ball retention. But my. Biggest bug bare remains. Every player back for corners. It just invites further pressure and allows the opposition a further bite of the cherry. Wrexham twice threatened to score from our corners, as Preston actually did and I think Coventry also by leaving players on the half way line. Given that we now have plenty of speed in the team, a quick ball out to the flanks and players like Burrell, Saito and Dembele will revel in the chance of one on ones with opposition defenders. Also less players in the penalty box must surely give the keeper more chance of getting the ball.

Fewer players in the box not only allows the keeper but also opposing players a greater chance of getting to the ball. Clogging up the box makes it harder for every player in there. As I say, I tend to agree and would prefer to see at least one of our forwards on the halfway line.

I’d leave him up - he’ll probably keep two defenders back for the corner so that’s 2-3 less players in the box and a quick out-ball over the top Note to Coach Beard/Bould - please can you practice some corners with blocking for Keifer Moore types - just getting a body in the guy’s way a bit so he can’t get a free header. No need to foul him or out jump him because that’s a big ask but block his run by standing your ground in front of him. We used to do this every week in Sunday pub football so I doubt it’s that hard to implement. Just set the team ratter loose to do the job when you have identified the oppo’s threat among all the white vans in the car park.
| Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Takes one of the opposition from the corner situation. I know who I’m backing in a one in one.
A Couple of Things From Yesterday on 10:12 - Sep 14 with 1799 views | themodfather | down side for me, no clean sheet and they scored a free header from a corner, moore was unmarked in our 6yd box? agree leave bureel out to use his pace on the break and will give teams much to ponder. if he is breaking thru, if fouled it could be a red card?
A Couple of Things From Yesterday on 13:38 - Sep 14 with 1513 views | terryb | A bigger problem than having evry player back defending corners, is not having enough players ready to defend when we have a corner! Twice yesterday, Wrexham could have scored from Rangers corners.

Nail on head and this has been a trend for 2 years on everything from corners, frees and our own throw ins. No matter who swings the corners in and we have a couple of good players able to do it Vale, Madsen, and once a game Dembele we never get on the end of them and the other team rip us apart with lightining counters .Like I said yesterday if Verane tripped their guy on a free run at our goal he was red carded so he basically whiffed twice before we blocked their chance . Corners over hit or into the keepers hand or directly wide ( Dembele, Chair ) are no good to our cause we need to find a solution ASAP

I did wonder if Akindileni would get a game yesterday but I guess he's not ready yet. Nobody was troubling Moore for their goal.

You mean like Masden. It's the ability to time and jump that matters. More a job for Dunne.
