1. All the pubs were open before and after the game and full of Saints supporters enjoying a peaceful pre & post match beer.
2. I though the atmosphere was decent, most of the ground got behind the team which doesn't happen very often.
3. Portsmouth are a very poor side who are well drilled and know how to make the most of their talents, ie get everyman behind the ball and then press quicky and hoof it from the back, if we had played them in a few weeks when we have gelled our side together it would have been a different story.
4. It was good to see it pass off without major incident, say what you like about bubble games but it means there is no one getting hurt

We got to Southampton just before 9.00am and it was chaos at a number of pubs in the city centre.
Giddy Bridge had loads queueing outside and they were doing one-in, one-out.
We had intended going to the 5 Rivers for 10.00am, but had made the mistake of ordering food in the Scholars Arms, which took well over an hour to arrive, therefore didn’t get to the 5 Rivers at all.
Won’t make that mistake again. God know why we went in the Scholars. |  |

1. Portsmouth are now just another run of the mill lower league team, their support went through the lower league song book and lacked anything that would mark them out as different, their team are well drilled but lack skill, and they'll be relegated again long before troubling the top flight.
2. The Northam Wall is the biggest mistake the club has done in recent years, and for games like this it's a massive own goal as it just encourages away fans to mock our atmosphere.
3. It was weird to see empty seats despite the game being a sell out, can only assume they were unused season tickets or comp tickets, but it was a shame to see.
4. This Saints side WILL come good, in brief flashes we looked a good side but we need to play our own game and not let the opposition dictate the game.
5. The whole police operation was completely overkill, ok you've got a bubble that's all good, but then if you have that why did you need multiple helicopters, police going round every pub in town and police horses around the stadium, surely the point of the bubble is to stop the need for that |  | | |

Went to 5 rivers for 10am, no queue at bar got a table and had a few quiet pints, it looked like all the nippers went downstairs to the other bar might have been lively down there.
Sat in chapel near back and pleased to see no one from around 10 or so rows from the back sat down.
£20 each way from Eastleigh train station for an Uber , bit pricey. |  |

For me, it was all a massive anti climax. 12pm kick offs always water down the atmosphere, but it was such a disappointment.
Accounts of the Pompey bubble arriving on their coaches.
"There were no Southampton fans on the streets as we arrived, not anyone around 2 and half hours before kick off."
"No flags hanging outside of windows, or any sign of a huge derby".
"It was a calm entry to the away end, we didn't see any home fans at all"
I suppose part of that was that we didn't know which way the bubble was coming in.

This ofcourse is very biast, I would agree but the massive south coast derby felt flat for me, and nothing like the West Brom game, with the coach welcome, fans drinking in pubs hours before that Friday night game, fans with flags hanging from their houses etc. Again, the 12pm kick off and bubble had a massive part to play. And then the performance on the pitch, nothing to cheer or get excited about.
I don't think the Portsmouth fans were that impressive either at all, but what a huge build up and I've come away feeling very underwhelmed with a boring atmosphere and boring game.

2- The (Ports) myths flying around about our support which is total and utter crap, never heard them from the Northam.

One thing ... went to the toilet after the match, pompey sticker on the toilet door ... so yeah, their checks worked REALLY well didn't they? Sigh. | |
