Long Throws 14:21 - Sep 17 with 1373 viewsvanrrrr

Back in fashion and something we seem crap at. …Smyth tries but barely makes the 18yard box, bless him.

Have we got a budding Delap anywhere? Was watching Brentford v Chelsea and they had a wee lad with an absolute howitzer…. Love the chaos

Hate it! Won't pay to see it.

There should be a minimum time for the throw-in to be taken, say 10 seconds, then the throw-in goes to the opposition, similar to futsal. Nowadays it takes like 1 minute to do the routine, change players, wait for the opposite left back to jog up to take the throw.

Our first goal against Wrexham was due to a long throw. And are we not getting in a set piece coach?

I would like see the linesman position themselves 2m away from throw in point on the attacking side. If the thrower wants to creep backwards, then fine but it would put an end to stealing 10-15 m on an attacking throw.

The grass is always greener.

Yeah, that phenomenon has become a little out of control.

But never mind throws, what about free kicks? It really winds me up how often we have a FK in the opponents half and instead of launching it in to the box, tap it five yards back, look up to see 11 opposition players in front and end up losing it without posing any threat at all.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

I thought Mbengue chucked a couple of decently long throws into the mixer v PNE - or maybe I imagined it ? Actually, in my dream, he ran round and got on the end of his own throw to flick it on, so maybe it's me meds!

....and make it a foul throw if they go over.

As poor as Smyth is at long throws, Dunne is worse.

His throws at Wrexham were beyond comprehension.

Nardi's got a long throw on him but it could be risky!

Never knowingly right.

We seemed to have some success with the Smyth medium throw for a while last season until teams cottoned on to Dunne winning the first header every time.

But it’s true the time taken is often ludicrous. A team holding onto a lead taking a throw in their own half would often get a booking for taking as long but referees continue to refuse to clamp down on time-wasting in general, most notably with dead ball goal kicks.

They’re fun and more likely to end up with us having possession in the box or near it than a short throw. Get it launched.

Didn't Albert produce the worst "long" throw a couple of seasons back?

Smyth has got better at the long throws, caused havoc against Leeds last season with them
