Who misses out - best team v best plan 00:49 - Sep 23 with 3621 viewssimmo

As we've said, when the likes of Chair, Poku and JCS are back - what will be the plan with squad selection? More specifically how will the board feel if, as you might expect given the players recent performances in a new way of playing, JS decides to consistently leave out some of the clubs favoured 'projects'?

I found it interesting that JS made a point this week to mention why he felt he had to leave out Esq, and the same last week about Kolli not getting on the pitch against Wrexham. If you look at the current squad, you might suggest that Esq, Kolli, and maybe even starboy Morgan are the most in danger of losing their bench spots if we ever manage to get a majority available.

Of course it's a long old season and we'll likely lose others to injuries, suspensions, curses or whatever, but it does make me wonder how a board adamant to give their young pups game time come what may - and posting videos of guards of honour for graduates like Morgan - would feel about a manager not picking them at all.

That Cov result feels a little to me like a turning point for JS rather than the board, and we've seen how it can be for those deviating or not willing to follow the plan...

Anyway just some evening musings. Carry on 🙂

I guess it doesn't matter for a while... Obviously someone was telling porkies about the severity of Poku's injury initially, and the recovery time for both.

I spoke to Ilias for a moment after the Stoke game and he told me it would be a couple of weeks before he would be ready.

The grass is always greener.

I think Poku will come back in either for Vale or with Vale moving into a number 10 position going back to how we started the season with one up front.

I can't see how Morgan or Kolli get into the side at the moment they are quite far down the pecking order at the moment which isn't great for them

Chair is the one most in danger, I can see him being sold in January, he'll need to really adapt his game and move the ball quicker to have a chance of playing regularly

I wonder if Chair could adapt his game to play quarterback like Bannon and Swift have recently.

Poku is the one who most obviously fits into the team as it's currently set up. Tough call as to who gets replaced, but a great option off the bench at least.

So will JCS time his return to full fitness with Mbengue’s impending ( it is gonna happen in the next few weeks) suspension? Seem to remember 5 bookings in your first 20 odd matches and you are out for a game, though I could be wrong.

The player I’d have most under threat is Dembele.
I remain unimpressed

But I would say I don’t see many changes as Chair and Poku won’t be seen for quite a while if rumours are to be believed.
These are alongside the same rumour that Jimmy Dunne was out until Christmas so a snow shovel of salt to be taken with them.

I still don’t think our squad is as bejewelled as some do.
The three injuries to decent players weakens us option wise and many have already referred to three game weeks.

If the squad was so rich in resources we wouldn’t be signing emergency keepers or trying to do a deal for handsome Ron.
The uptick in Madsen’s form is well timed and welcomed as it’s another decent option but I still think we need another “ratter” option in there.

Let’s see where we are when the clocks go back and some proper cold Tuesday nights on the Midlands have occurred.

Nice things are looking good at the moment though!!!!

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Good news about JCS. I had incorrectly picked up news that he wouldn't be back until the new year. It'll be strange to see him on the pitch again. He's been out since January.

Yeah, yeah, yeah......his injury return dates are analogous to my hill walks...think I've reached the top, but then there's another summit in the middle-distance....

Poll: Do we need another Eze thread
