The timing was probably all about Nuno rather than Potter. The fact they'd agreed a contract with him was probably already known by the players so better to clarify things now.

When fans protest fiercely and demand better, the board usually act. Nuno about to be appointed. He did an incredible job at Forest. The West Ham fans demand success and entertainment on the pitch. Nuno wouldnt arrive without money to spend on the team either. West Ham will be fine, and will probably go on to have some success now, partly because they have passionate demanding fans.
