Have Saints lost their'Devil May Care'attitude ? 20:46 - Oct 11 with 503 views | grumpy | When Saints played at the Dell we had this, particularly under Lawrie. Under Lawrie we bought experienced players who were heading towards the end of their career and brought our best youth players through to play alongside them. Who could forget the Shearer,Wallace's,Moran etc. Now we play with too much caution, pass it sideways and backwards, play out from the back so we don't lose the ball, the joke of that is that's exactly what we do. Why don't we play our young players more. We are so afraid of losing that's exactly what we do.
Have Saints lost their'Devil May Care'attitude ? on 21:14 - Oct 11 with 439 views | Southamptonfan | It's an utter mess all round. You're right, we have lost that brave, go for it attitude. It just looks like the players can't be arsed at times and yes, are scared to lose. Perhaps there is a lot of pressure, a toxic pressure, toxic environment within the club yes, which makes everyone on edge. But what can you do? Ofcourse there are expectations. It seems strange to me that players that are useless here, under various managers, often are brilliant at other clubs. There must be something wrong at the club. The environment just isn't right and hasn't been since Sport Republic arrived. I sense frustrations throughout the club, in the players such as the lack of a striker (again!!) and the continuous mistakes from above. As for young players, Robertson is loved by the fans. I've not heard a bad word against him. I like him, he was brilliant at Ipswich. So what do they do, they drop him and play our other young player, who is absolutely useless. And the reason is all about money. They spent 7 million on Downs, so they are desperate to scramble that money back. That's all it is. There will be pressure on the manager to recoup that money and therefore play him. This then causes disharmony in the squad when players are picked purely for this reason, rather than form. Robertson hasn't cost us anything. This is how Sport Republic run the club. They make decisions based on what they will think will make money. So basically the problem is the owners. I am certain of it. [Post edited 11 Oct 21:19]

He brought not only experienced players, but players who he could trust as well as revitalise their careers with his man management. The likes of Rodrigues and possibly Bally thought their careers were on the wain.

He wasn't a yes man. Sport Republic love appointing young, inexperienced, naive managers for a reason.

Yep, and as I posted earlier Dom Ballard scored a hat trick for Orient this afternoon.

I think the issue is that Sport Republic only see young players as commodities and they like a quick turnover so they're sold to the first bidder. It means we see very little of skilful players, like Dibling, Robinson, Amo-Ameyaw and Ballard before they're sold. Meanwhile, our first team squad is filled with average journeymen, who are not going to play exciting football. More recently than the McMenemy era, we had the exciting Pochettino and Koeman teams of 2014-16. Remember this end to that era, before Mané, Wanyama, Pellè and Ramirez were sold in the summer of 2016? 23 April 2016 Aston Villa 2–4 Southampton 1 May 2016 Southampton 4–2 Manchester City 8 May 2016 Tottenham Hotspur 1–2 Southampton 15 May 2016 Southampton 4–1 Crystal Palace That's more wins in 3 weeks than we had in the whole of last season. No wonder I never wanted that season to end. [Post edited 12 Oct 12:43]

Have Saints lost their'Devil May Care'attitude ? on 15:09 - Oct 12 with 35 views | DorsetIan | We’ve been in slow and steady decline since Gao took over. The recruitment and appointment of managers has been appalling. Will Still hasn’t demonstrated very much so far, so it looks like the job of taking us from a mid-table PL to mid-table Championship side is pretty much complete.
