Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : Match day thread on 22:00 - Oct 21 by jack247 | I don’t know much about sales and marketing, so I’ll take your opinion on this over mine, but I just don’t see it as the sort of thing people are going to do on a whim. When we were at the Vetch and it was a tenner yes. Now you’re looking at around £30 for a ticket, best part of £100 for a family. That’s a lot of money to people who aren’t particularly bothered about it. I may be wrong, but I’d imagine people who are prepared to spend that kind of money, particularly in the economic climate, already know were playing. Having said all that, how much can a couple of electronic billboard advertisements cost? You see them advertising small local businesses, so they can’t be expensive. |
A simple way to test is ask anyone you know who is not a Swans supporter but has been to a game in the past if we are playing this week, when, against who and at what time.

And if they’d have any interest in going. Whether they know or not is irrelevant if they wouldn’t go anyway. I know plenty who went in the PL or have gone on the occasional freebie. Asking people to pay that kind of money for something they aren’t really bothered about is a different matter.

Indeed. It's really not difficult to grasp. Those who want to attend Swans games at present already are. The idea that tweeting a bit more often that we're playing QPR tomorrow would add thousands to the gate is mental.

£23 for an adult and two kids. Shame that people don’t know that. It’s not advertised anywhere. Poor marketing see. [Post edited 21 Oct 23:13]

For our first category C game of the season. Up until now an adult ticket has cost £28 or £32.50. Yes slightly cheaper with kids in the South stand. I completely agree the advertising is poor, bordering on the verge of non existent. The point I’m making is the type of person who is going to take their kids to a game that won’t finish much before 10 on a school night is already going to know there’s a game on. There’s not a big pool of people only not going to games because they don’t know we’re playing.

The issue is do they know how cheap it is to go tonight with two kids ? It’s pretty piss poor. Ticketing and marketing this seems to be the clubs Achilles heel.

It’s £30 for an adult and two kids for most games. £6.50 is unlikely to be the difference between a parent and two children going or not. Yes, it’s piss poor, no argument there. But it’s like people believe there are a couple of thousand people milling around Swansea who only don’t go because they don’t know we are playing. The conversation has moved from that to this particular game being cheaper. I never know when the Ospreys are playing. If I had any interest in them I would

Football is part of the entertainment business and should be treated as such and advertised. I often see the electric screens at bus stops in Swansea advertising up and coming events in the area emphasising the phone number to buy tickets. The arena is very prominent in doing this, it must be worthwhile or they wouldn't do it. Then the biggest bugbare for me, the large electric screen above the ticket office is never advertising up and coming matches, I have never seen this at any ticket/box office in the country.

I agree, especially the bit about the big screen outside the ground. I’m not saying they shouldn’t be doing it or that it would be expensive. I just don’t think it would make a lot of difference. No one will convince me we’re losing fans because people don’t know when we’re playing. People who are invested enough to make the effort to go, as well as pay, already know when we’re playing. Our owners and senior management are elite businessmen. If they thought they could add a couple of thousand to the gate with simple advertising, I’m sure they’d have the gumption to do it. Edit - yes the arena is very good advertising. I do think touring comedians are a different proposition to a football club and are much more reliant on it. We certainly should be maximising the board at the ground in the same way though. [Post edited 22 Oct 9:37]

Can’t see more than a draw based on our recent form. May even lose. I’m just not confident at the moment. I’m thinking we’ll get maximum 2 points over the next two games. Things are going to have to change drastically to get me thinking we’ve got a good chance of a win.

I would hope for the same for both games......its a must really or the pressure from the fans will be enormous, now is the time for the clubs with intention and in form start to kick on.

I think he needs four points this week or he starts to come under a bit of pressure. I think we’ll get it and see improved performances.

The boos at the final whistle of the last home game were loud and clear. We need to be on the front foot from the off tonight.
Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : Match day thread UPDATED on 11:50 - Oct 22 with 79 views | wwcigne | Tonight we need to see a big improvement on recent games,we need to replace Key no matter what ,if he got injured we would have to play someone else anyway so why not just try it If Stamenic starts then we need him to be the player we saw in his first couple of games, looking to get on the front foot and not the negative sideways and back we’ve been getting off him in recent games Sheehan will be under the spotlight from now on,let’s hope he’ll get us back to the way he had us playing at the end of last season COYS
Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : Match day thread UPDATED on 11:55 - Oct 22 with 63 views | Whiterockin | We need to watch our discipline to avoid an early suspension. Cabango and Tymon are already on 4 yellows each and Stamenic is on 3.
