Honest as always. An off day, struggled with the low block. Didn't compete as they wanted to. I like the post match reaction today from him and Stephan. They know the issues. No need to panic. No need to blame. Just get it sorted and react next time. On the plus side, his hair is really lush now! :)

Never knowingly right.

Yep, good interview. Spoke much better than the previous time when he was interviewed after a disappointing result/ Plus he makes a lot of good points. Hope they get taken on board.

Really?? Do you not think that Nardi should not have come out 5 yards to deal with the skyed ball into the 6 yard box??

For the goal half the players in the box stopped with their hands up, Cookie being one of them.

Smells like a trout farm in here

He never had much pace, as I recall. Nardi's latest howlers all seem to be blamed on Cook turning 34 which is rubbish in my view.

We've had a decent start to the season, really, especially considering the "form" of the two goalkeepers we've had throughout it!

Not sure it is right to blame Cook for the goal.....it wasn't a good goal to concede (none are I suppose) but when you want the keeper to deal with a 'lob' into the box he should be dealing with it.

I don't think he could have done anything about that goal.

He is a worry, though. There's a lot of stopping and pointing going on, very little of the I'll clear it now and we'll talk about it later. That can happen when a player's legs go. I think it's too early to know if Cook's have just yet. He could be injured or just out of form.

Pace in a defender is a great attribute to have, but Cook has never had it and relies more on positional awareness and reading of the game, which he has always been good at. Anything can happen when you sling crosses into the box filled with 8 or 9 players. Nardi simply isn’t big enough or strong enough to command his six yard box and is clearly uncomfortable coming for the high balls in a packed box.

More telling for me are the comments around (ball) control and intensity. Our ball control is generally poor and we really need to work on picking up the pace of the transitions. Difficult if you can’t get the ball under immediate control and look to progress the ball.

What Cook is basically saying is that 'man for man' most players were not 'on their game' and we did not have any ideas how to break down a well organised defence.....and next week during training they will look at the video and see what we could (& should) have done a lot better.

You break it down by stretching the defence with pace and incisive passing. Chair, Saito, Dembele, Poku and Smyth are built for just that.

For a team supposed filled with quick, clever, skilful players, we didn't look any of those things yesterday.

Not sure where you got that from but it is not factual.

I believe that we have a fairly rounded squad with some decent players and are a Team which work together.....that should keep you in the top half of the table and better if we get more consistent.

Mistakes and off days happen in football and Millwall and Derby were 2 of those.
However, think that QPR could benefit from not selecting players to play in positions not really suited to them.

In this case I refer to Vale. He is a good midfielder and is good with his left foot, but he doesn't use his right foot and when he plays on the right wing always cuts back to his left foot and slows the attack down. QPR should select Smyth, Burrell and Poku, when he is fit to play. Maybe even put Chair on the right or Saito, even Bennie, but not Vale. Vale should play central or on the left wing. To some extent the same goes for Chair on the left wing although he does seem to make a better contribution from that side than Vale does on the other.

Both of those could be better in central positions. Chair as a number 10 and Vale as a number 8.

Edit
I have just read the Dembele thread and realised this post was better suited on there.

JS said they basically, before the Derby game, the players did 20 minutes actual training, and the rest of the time they watched videos. Here's an idea - maybe do things the other way round next time? Or just ditch the video completely!

And just teleport from Swansea to Derby as required.

Agreed. Understanding why is the million dollar question.

Half arsed performances have been built into the DNA at QPR for decades.

So you're telling me we did, in fact, play a quick, skilful game v the Rams, are you?

The club also gave the players the day off on Thursday. Apart from that, you're missing my point - but never mind.

I don't think anyone on this board has, have they? I'm offering an opinion/suggestion like hundreds of far more detailed critiques here. Not sure what your problem is, sweetie, but I suspect you're another who plays the man rather than the ball.

One day, all games will be played on Zoom.

Thanks be to god that we don’t have to worry about any midweek cup games, in the meantime. That would just kill everyone to death with a two footed, Wednesday coach lunge.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

I think we are talking 'crossed' SE........I do not think that we are a team full of quick, skillful, etc, etc players, just a squad that could and perhaps should be doing better.

But you weren't "offering an opinion or a suggestion". You made an arrogantly presumptuous statement in a fashion that suggests that you believe it to be complete obvious common sense when in fact, by your own admission, its actually based on complete ignorance and assumed utter bollox.

There are posters on here who have at least coached extensively at youth amateur level and who are in a reasonable position to talk intelligently about this. You are clearly not one of them.
