Delighted.
It was a simple decision to make really. Good player, good attitude and a good influence on the other players. Exactly the kind of player we need as part of the core element in our dressing room.
In the 80's and 90's we had a core who ran the dressing room - Macca, Wilkins, Barker, Holloway etc. They were professional and they knew the club. They set the tone for incoming players. I always feel that a team should be able to run itself to a large degree, decide it's own goals and disciplines. We need to get back to that. Keeping Mackie is a step towards that. Keeping Hill and Derry would be invaluable too.

He certainly surprised me this season. Didnt really believe he could make the step up. Good for him. Now here for two more seasons at least and will still be only 28 and saleable if no longer wanted. |  |

Yes probably correct, can't really remember where he was at the time as regards fitness. I think he started running and stuff and then it went a bit wonky for a while. Same might apply to Ale next season of course but I doubt he'll be left out either. | | | |
