"Arsène Wenger launched an attempt to hijack Yann M’Vila’s proposed move to Queens Park Rangers last night. The Arsenal manager has also expressed an interest in trying to sign Yoann Gourcuff on loan from Lyons and is tracking Florian Thauvin, another attacking midfielder, who plays for Bastia. Arsenal withdrew interest in M’Vila last summer because of Rennes’ valuation of more than £20 million and they may have had reservations about the midfielder’s temperament after he was arrested this month for an alleged assault. Wenger changed his mind about taking on a defensive midfielder in the summer, having been rejected by Jan Vertonghen, who moved to Tottenham Hotspur, when the Arsenal manager tried to address the problem of having conceded 49 league goals last season. They have let in 26 league goals in this campaign. Rubin Kazan have also stepped up their interest in M’Vila, 22, who has been capped at all levels and whose price has halved to about £10 million. Pierre Dréossi, the Rennes general manager, admitted last night that a deal is expected and Frédéric Antonetti, the club’s coach, is preparing for M’Vila’s departure. “It’s annoying when good players leave and as he was regaining his level it is annoying,” Antonetti said. “But he is not gone yet.” Decent bets QPR are considering an approach for Florent Malouda, the midfielder who was not included in Chelsea’s 25-man Premier League squad in September. The 32-year-old last played for the club in the Champions League final in May, when he appeared as a substitute . He has six months left on his deal and has been training and playing with the youngsters, having attracted interest from Arsenal in the summer of 2011. Djibril Cissé, the QPR forward, has joined Al-Gharafa, in Qatar, on loan for the rest of the season. Representatives of QPR, Everton and Newcastle United watched Étienne Capoue, the Toulouse midfielder, play in the 2-1 victory over Nancy on Saturday. He has scored three times in 19 league appearances this season. Moussa Sissoko, also a Toulouse midfielder courted by Barclays Premier League clubs, is expected to announce his future this week, although he is likely to stay in France until the end of his contract and is hoping for a move to Paris Saint-Germain."

Reading winning back to back and us playing well enough puts pressure on those above us. We have the best defensive record in the league over the last 5-6 games now. Build a few 3 point results into that and a few teams above us, including Norwich showing signs of prolonged bad patches and I'd say that post the City game, which we may get something from, it's looking like a miracle could happen for us if we stick to what we are doing and squeeze a few 3 pointers.

May is a tough one for us but If Harry gets in the right players, there is no reason why we can't pick up lots of points during Feb, March & April and then try to get something out of May.

"Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila has reportedly turned down a move to Queens Park Rangers in favour of a switch to Russian side Rubin Kazan.
Hoops boss Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his desire to recruit the Frenchman, having already secured the signing of compatriot Loic Remy.
However, M'Vila looks likely to reject a transfer to England and join up with Rubin Kazan instead, according to French newspaper L'Equipe.
The source claims that the 22-year-old will sign a four-year deal with Rubin, worth in excess of £3m per season.
Previous reports had claimed that QPR were likely to be successful with a bid of around £8m for the player, although the Russians have supposedly offered £9m more than the Premier League outfit.
