He does sound quite promising - good age, 6'0", seems to score a few goals so might fit that box-to-box gap we have. Don't know how good the Austrian league is but plays in their top flight so sounds OK for Championship level. According to this https://www.transfermarkt.com/stefan-schwab/profil/spieler/79612 8 goals and 8 assists in 30 games this season and on starts and game time seems to be OK on injuries.
If he's turning down Italy and Germany to come here it sounds like he's after big money as he turns 30 so doubt we can afford him but might be a good signing if we can.
He is indeed Rapid Vienna`s captain and their most influential player ... their heart and soul as they say. He is also in or around the national squad but hardly plays. Rapid are trying to negotiate a new contract with him - they finished second and have the chance to get into the Champions League. That could well be the reason that he will stay. On the other hand even a poor club in England will pay three or four times as much as a big club here in Austria... Anyway there are a few Rapid Season Ticket holders where I work and they are all keen for him to stay...
So LFW has a man in Vienna. Great stuff. Schwab sounds like he’d be a very useful addition. But looks unlikely to join us. Unless London could be a draw for him. And of course the opportunity to wear the famous blue and white hoops.
